twinkle48 wrote:Just back from watching A Good Year in Brighton, no phone police tonight. A brilliant film, but then anything with Russell Crowe in is fine by me!
I was there too!! Typical that I didn't bring my phone this time, so they weren't taking them!!
Must admit I wasn't that impressed with the film. It wasn't terrible, but a bit slow and predictable for me.
Never mind, onward to the next preview!!Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0 -
OK ! Cryptic question !
Anyone given a free tube of Rolos and a bottle of Priory Falls natural mineral water last night ? (Monday 23rd)
Missed out on the raffle for the 12 bottles of wine or perhaps you were the lucky winner ?
Just wondered how many fellow MSErs joined me

sorry for asking what may be a stupid question again, but what actually are the point of these previews. We've all heard the phrase 'there's no such thing as a free lunch'. With these tickets being completely free, what is the catch? Surely the cinema and film company wouldn't want to give out a free preview when the next week they could get us to pay to see it? Surely this isn't one of those trial screenings as there isn't enough time to act on the critism the film may recieve?0

i think its just for us to publicise the film - we enjoy it and so would tell friends/family etc. or maybe because we go to these then maybe we are encouraged to see more films that arent free. i would imagine that the cinema itself might benefit - free tickets so buy popcorn/sweets (doesnt work with me its too darn expensive!). Perhaps they are just jolly nice peope! LOL0

Wow got my first set of tickets to see "Starter for ten" - just double checking that there is no problems with these free film tickets. In the past i've had trouble with vouchers printed off the computer. Hope this ain't the case for these?0

Most of them are at 6.30 on Monday and Tuesdays - this is a very quiet time for most cinemas - as demonstrated by these also traditionally being the cheap ticket nights anyway. The cinema however still has to open the building, pay the staff etc, so v little additional cost for them to put on the free screening. The cinema is likley to make a fair bitb of money on food and drink, which it would not have sold if people hadn't come to the screenign ( refreshmnets are v profitable apparently) and it is free publicity - in 2 ways. 1) By applying for tickets, you read a synopsis of a film, if you don't get tickets, you may decide to see this film anyway later an pay for it, 2) as above - word of mouth, you recommend a film you have seen for free to yur friends & family0

I agree with Aquatic. Telling other people about the film is important and cheaper and more credible than advertising in the papers or on TV.
Often preview films have mixed or bad reviews, but even if critics don't klike them, 'ordinary' people (like us!) do. (Did you see what Jonathon Ross said about The Last Kiss and the Guardian? I doubt anyone would go to either of these based on his comments.)
Sometimes they are good films, but have low advertising budgets, limited 'big ' stars, and/or the title or subject of the film, would not normally encourage people to go. Little Miss Sunshine fits most of these categories, and I thought it was great, and told loads of people to see it.
And as for Borat - I wonder if it is just about creating a cult following so people ask for this to be shown at their local or to buy it on DVD! :-)0 -

Do not worry the Ticket will be Good ...and you will have No Problems
Just Remember to turn Up On Time.
There are Many People on here that Have used the printed Tickets from See Film First and I cannot Remember anybody saying they Have had any problems with them Ever.Infact I cannot Remember ever having Problems with any of the Printed Tickets on Here Regardless of the Company supplying the Free Screening.
I have seen people complaining occasionally about having Problem with the Print off vouchers you have to take to The Cinema and Exchange for Tickets but this is still very rare......But this is not the case with your Print Off as it is the Actual Ticket for the Movie.
And Normally you are Not even asked for Identification either ...although for your own peace of mind it may be worth you taking some Just in case ...although I Expect you will not need it.
The only thing they seem to "Stress" about occasionally is if you have a Camera Phone ...sometimes they Confiscate them (They Do Return Them) or sometimes they just ask you turn them off ...so if you cannot be bothered with that Hassle then Just leave your Camera Phone at Home ...if that is Convenient obviously .
Or Just Hide it from the "Heavies" if they are there
Hope this helps
