Digital Camera Bargain!?!?!

  • Panasonic make some decent cameras but they are all plagued by excessive noise and noise reduction in low light and at high sensitivities!!

If you want a camera that can be used at a party without always having to use a flash then the Fuji cameras are unmatched at the moment!!
  • Hiya,
    I've got a Fuji Z1 which I highly recommend.
It is a refurbished model bought directly from Fuji website. It came at a great price and has a 6 months guarantee (which can be extended if you wish so). I like this particular model as it's quite small but has a big screen which is made out of reinforced/toughened glass, takes fablous pictures and the video quality is fantastic.

    Hope this helps

  • Try a Nikon Coolpix L2: available at camera2u.com or pixmania for roughly 111 quid (costs 150 in johnlewis).

You can get a couple of quid off buying via quidco

Just bought - excellent little gizmo; Nikon don't make any old rubbish.

I have just been making the same enquiries, and the area for me to focus was a camera that takes video that you actually want to watch!! Most cameras are REALLY poor quality, its barely worth having. I wanted something that could capture good quality video, and great photos. I found the Pentax Optio W10 at https://www.jessops.co.uk £139.99 but £3 cash back AND 10% offer via Quidco! Its 6 MP, captures video at a good resolutions (equivelent of VHS) AND has the bonus of being waterproof up to 1.5 meters!!! Great for holidays, snorkling, sailing, or just the reasurance that you are protected in the rain! its a great camera, giving easy access to the presets for every occasion. There are plenty of reviews online (all good) and everyone i've shown today is pretty jealous, and 2 people have gone ahead and ordered 1 for themselves!!

Have i sold it to you yet?!?!

...I would like to buy instore! What is the deal with jessops price matching cameras from high street stores. I want to buy from jessops(ill be in central london & dont know where theres many other camera shops). Is there any great deals on a camera in a store other than jessops where i can then take this to jessops and say "price match" please.....if that makes sense!!
  • Try a Nikon L2... I've just bought one and it works fine - the software provided works well too.

Cost 111 quid from cameras2u.com (free overnight delivery), also available via Amazon (pixmania) at this price. You can get extra reductions through quidco.com and purchase via cashback credit cards.

Same camera costs 150 quid in John Lewis.

My previous Nikon Coolpix 3200 still worked (up to a point) after it spent fifteen minutes in a river.

In short, Nikon don't produce rubbish - the key thing is that the lens quality is good. They also don't tend to sell via massmarket high street retailers either (eg Dixons/Currys/PC World).

I would question the ability of these
little campact size cameras that are
7 mega pixel and up.OK in the likes
of the cannon EOS etc.But myself
I reckon anything around 5 or 6 mega pixel
    is probably fine.

We had a Sony Cybershot 4.5 mp
it took great pics in close up or
    long range.Everyone in the family
    seemed capable of getting great
    results.We now own another
    Cybershot DSC P200,7.2mp
a different story fine for pics
of scenery etc but close range
its very hit and miss.we have a
fair amount of fuzzy pics when the
kids use it.Mainly because if your not
stood absoulutly rigidley still, taking the pics
the results can be poor.Hopeless for those
occassions when you say to someone
oh can you take a pic of us please ?
how often have you asked people to
do that.there is no improvement in
    picture quality either.

When you hear people saying that its
not the high mega pixels that make it
a better camera,I now know what they
    mean.

Because next time I need a new
camera I will have different priorities
must say I like the look of the Canon
cameras.I have been a Sony user for
quite a long time but this one I have
    here has made me wary.

The problem is the megapixels are put onto a sensor say for example 1cm square, the more megapixels you cram onto this square the more you are likely to get noisy pictures and image processing needs to be done in the camera to compensate making worse pictures this is why more megapixels dont always mean better pictures
