You can get a gym ball. Doesn't have to be a 'birth ball'. The important thing is to get the right size for your height.
From http://www.birthease.co.uk/birthease_shop/Birth-Birthing-Ball.shtml :
Yeah, I need a 75cm as I am 5'9 1/2 :rotfl:£2 more! Are the gym balls anti-burst as well?0 -
I think a few people were mentioning in early posts that they had lost a parent and it they are sad there parents wont get to see LO. My big brother died a few years ago and Ive thought on and off how great he wouldve been as an uncle , its strange how birth makes you think of death really.
It is a strange thing that we think about those who aren't with us anymore when we think about those who are soon to join us.
I miss both my parents terribly, especially my dad who I was very close to, and it is hard to think that they won't see their first grandchild. DH still has his folks and a huge family whereas I have one sibling who is very close to us both.
I'm sure I will continue to shed tears at the things they will miss at the milestones but know they are watching from above.
Well, first off, thanks to all the lovely ladies who have supported me the past day. I do really appreciate it and it makes me feel better that I'm not being totally unreasonable in saying no to his mum standing in.
I asked DH what the script was with his work and he just said that the trip to Africa hadn't been mentioned at work when we talked tonight. His work are very much chancers.
I think that the waterworks may just have made him realise that although I am, by and large, a very strong capable women, that there are some things which scare the bejesus out of me. It is a conversation I am sure we will continue at some point.
I will, however, look at Doula services in the area just in case.
Tired again tonight, so much I should really be doing before I finish work but I just cba tonight.
I cheered myself up with some retail therapy last night on the Mamas and papas site and ordered the crib matress and a totally adorable pram suit that was in the sale for taking the little one on their first journey home.
Why is it that retail therapy actually works!! lol:jMini Coops arrived 2011:j0 -
Hi
So sorry I haven't read back again. Just a quick update from me. The trickling stopped. Phoned hospital and they said come down by 3pm. Well they confirmed it was amniotic fluid. So it had been over 24hrs and mw said I'd prob be staying in to be induced last night and again 24hrs later if nothing had happened but because I'd had previous c section/complications they would have to confirm with senior consultant. Also, they told me my cervix was completely shut.
Anyway, when doc came round, he was trying to persuade me to just go for c section. I said I'd feel happier tryin induced labour first with monitoring and if any problems arise I'd me more than happy then to have c section. He wasn't very +ve about the whole thing, saying they'll only let me be in labour for max 10hrs. (as if that's going to happen when my cervix is shut!)
So got home last night and did the deed to see if that helps things along. Nothing is happening. Just got up to have a RLT as cant sleep.
I'm trying homeopathy also, but nothing so far, she did say that it will only work if body is ready.
I am slightly dissappointed as I was convinced my cervix was doing something as I've had a lot of BH for months, pains, show, water breaking so many signs but that's it.
Anyway, all is important is the safe arrival of a little baby and that is the most important thing
I'll only log on again to read quickly just before I go. So next update will prob be about the birth which I cant do on my phone so may be in a good few days/ week even. Thanks for all your support.

Morning, the thread was very quiet last night so I'm hoping you all had a good sleep.
Coops, hope you manage to get the work thing sorted.surely they understand? As far as doulas,I was in touch with a doula who posted on netmums. She was finishing her training and needed some case studies. She was offering her services for free in return for you speaking to her mentor at some point and being a case study.
She was pretty much fully qualified. I would of used her and we were about to meet, but we moved. You could maybe get in touch with one of their training courses and see if anyone needs the same?
You may prefer someone with more experience though.
Both my littlies are up since 6:30am with sore tummies and DS has a runny nose. I've a feeling they are in for the yucky bug that half of the school are off with. This will be a long Saturday.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -

Aww I'm sorry things aren't going to plan. Loads of labour vibes to you. I hope DTD the gets things moving. Look forward to hearing your news :ABaby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Labour vibes to you Icwus, hope everything goes how you want it too. Very excited for you tho, whatever happens you'll be holding your bubs in a very short time
I am suddenly more organised, have a nightie and pants for after the birth, plus some maternity pads (yikes!!). Thanks for your post giz, I will try tre pants and if they fit now they should hopefully fit after the birth. Going to see if I can find another pack in matalan, then will wash everything and start packing my bag!!! Wow that makes this having a baby seem real - can't have him yet tho, not ordered carpet for our room & nursery
I have been busy on eBay looking for baby stuff too. Got a bright red babasling, and have an eye on changing bag, cot set and curtains. Suspect my nesting instinct is manifesting as shopping rather than cleaning urges
Coops glad you got to talk about it with OH, and does sound like he understands how important it is that he's there.
Morning Nic, sorry to hear about the poorly little uns, hope it doesn't last long
Digital, I have the miracle box ball, I'm 5 8 and had to let some air out of it to make the 65cm one the right height so you might be ok with that. I sit on mine at work and love it. The anti burst balls are hard to blow up, had to use our aired pump as the one in the box was getting me nowhere! I wanted an anti burst one just in case, but def spent more than I needed to on this one. Is fab for posture and achy hips!0 -
Morning ladies
Labour vibes lwcus, here's hoping dtd might have triggered something but if not all the best for your section and like you said the most important thing is that bubs arrives safely. Take care x
Coops here's hoping you wont need a doula and DH just tells them straight that he can't go. It's the support after the birth also which is really important, so he really needs to be there for you.
Nic my wee one has been in our bedroom for the past 2 nights, her cough is really bad to the point she is retching, it's really horrible isn't it. There is just so much going round. Hope your 2 feel better soon x
27 weeks todayReally must start making lists!

Morning Ladies
LOTS of labour vibes to Iwcus.
Coops, I hope it all works out with the OH and work and the birth, as teenie says you really do need him there so he needs to tell his work to Fuff off!
Teenie, I have lists about lists , lol
Hope everyone is ok x xBaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0
