I also get that stitch thing. Thought it was just me! I like to go on long walks, usually over an hour. Unfortunately my pelvic area is very painful afterwards as all the ligaments and muscles are stretched or something. I spoke to MW about it yesterday and she said it was a good thing as it means my body has softened to prepare for labour, but the downside is it's easy to pull muscles. I pulled one in my groin the other week which was very painful. Hurt for 2 or 3 days afterwards.

By the time I get to your stage Giz, I may not be able to manage the hour and a half walks. TBH 40 or so minutes would be better, but it only starts to hurt towards the end and then I'm in agony :( but feel better for getting some exercise as I have turned into such a couch potato :o

Oh yeah, meant to ask about these birthing balls. I know I don't need to get one yet, but when do you start using these? :)
I don't think there's a set time. Lots of people find them comfy early on...they are good for posture I think, hence good for getting baby in a good position. Says me who is slouching on the sofa :o

I'm a couch potato :( I'm not the fittest - actually I'm not fit at all. But I do miss the gym in a funny sort of way. I joined up about 6 weeks prior to getting preggers was losing weight and I'd had a goal to do a 10K run (more realistically walk/jog) in October just gone. Lucky for me I got preggers so got out of the 10K run :)

  • Well I'm back from Asda. Resisted the Chinese, but had McDonalds instead... :D

Got a few more baby bits, some muslins, a blanket, some sheets and some sleepsuits. Oh, and I got 10 bibs for £3! There's a choice of plain white edging or bright colours.

RBG, I have IBD. They don't know if it's Ulcerative Colitis or Crohns but it affects the whole of my colon. It was only settling with steriods, so I ended up on immunosuppressants. I was well when I got pregnant which is good, but there is an increased risk of prem labour, low birth weight. But in saying that if wasn't on the drugs and unwell (which on my history I would be), then there are the same risks. So it was a rock and a hard place really. It's also the reason that I can't breastfeed, azathioprine passes into the milk.

I'm still kinda hungry, so I'll go and slice some of the farmhouse loaf I got and have it with jam, yum.
 Mummy to an amazing little girl

Ah ok. So do you post from your iphone all the time then?

Wonder if that lexi-something or other that Krystaltips was talking about can be played from both iphone/computer.

Yeah I'm nearly always on my phone. The computer is in the kitchen. I feel anti social if I sit in there. I don't have a laptop.

  • Ah, I thought they had something to do with softening down below for labour? Didn't want to get one too early and get things moving too early :o
I do suffer from a lot of back and pelvic pain though, so wondering if these would be helpful? Gonna have a Google

    I need help.

My rib/under b0ob area is killing me. It's getting worse. Feels like I'm being punched and if I cough it hurts so much I want to cry. It hurts getting in and out of bed and I'm only comfy lying down. Feels bruised.

I mentioned to midwife and she used the "P" word. What the hell is paracetamol going to do? I need anti-inflamatory. Basically it translated at tough really.

Would you recommend seeing what the doctor says? I know it's only going to get worse the more weight I put on.

Oooh I don't know. I think people bounce on them to get baby down further! And they are supposed to good for when in labour too. I never got one in the end. But I'll use the one at the hospital if I like it.

What ball did you go for, those who have them? Been looking at this one on Amazon that comes with pump and pregnancy exercises, and wondering if it's any good? Seems to have good reviews.

IM on my 3rd ball.each time it's been a £3.99 gym ball. I didn't think there is a difference. I found it fantastic in my last days before due date and in labour.

You can get a gym ball. Doesn't have to be a 'birth ball'. The important thing is to get the right size for your height.

    From http://www.birthease.co.uk/birthease_shop/Birth-Birthing-Ball.shtml :
Select the correct size for your height:
    65cm: Up to 5'8 (Up to 173cm)
    75cm: 5'8 and over (173cm & over)
