where has everyone got their sheets from? normally I pop into mothercare and toys r us but they are a bit of a drive away now. I need to get 2 moses basket fitted sheets, 2 cot bed fitted sheets and maybe a new celular blanket (if its a girl). I know mothercares bundles are really expensive but was wondering if anyone got some good deals?
We used pillow cases on the Moses basket.

OMG just checked the bloody receipt and have been charged 2.50 for the knickers when they blatenly say £1 and are in the sale!!!!! Im so annoyed!!!

Oh that's not good. If it makes you feel any better I bought the exact same 5 pack yesterday and paid £2.50 - but mine weren't marked £1 - so yes, complain.

We (well OH) washed everything because it was all second hand and I'll probably get him to wash all the newborn things this time because by the time the baby is born they'll have been sitting around in a box for four years. Last time I had a bit of an obsession with hygiene while pregnant so I made him rewash anything which touched the floor (inside our house where we don't walk with outdoor shoes anyway) but I'm going to try not to be so extreme about it this time - I had no idea I was being so weird until after I stopped being pregnant.

Thanks Susan. Everything that I have bought is brand new from the shops. Do you think I should wash it all? I had read earlier that some of the ladies are washing in non bio? Im so confused but I really dont wanna iron everything :( hate ironing.lol

Speaking of dentists, are the rumours I hear about being able to get free dental treatment when preggers true? Can I just go to any dentist, produce my bump and ask them to fix my teefs?

Your NHS Exemption card entitles you to free prescriptions and free NHS dental treatment. But you need to find a dentist that is currently accepting NHS patients - not all practices are. Have a look on the NHS Direct website and it will list NHS dentists in your area and you just need to ring around and find out who is taking on new patients. Good luck!
  • I never got a NHS exemtion card??? Have i missed out on it now?

  • Annibee I feel your pain. Our neighbours were awful for having their little parties at stupid o'clock when my DD was a LO. My hubby would go round there and threaten to knock the bloke out during really bad times which shut them up a little but you could hear the stupid twerpy woman shouting at him when he told her to shut up. I tried banging on the wall and all sorts. Then suddenly - she had a baby. So when we left for work every day we left Bob the Builder and Yogi Bear on repeat at full blast all day long until we came home. We'd leave at around 7.15am so I believe it was our turn to wake and keep up HER baby!

    The parties soon stopped! :D

Yep and dont forget you cant use tampons so its towels all the way although hopefully after a month it should have stopped or at least slowed down, should think you would be fine with normal pads
Mine lasted eight weeks but I'm fairly sure by a month I was just using one pant liner a day.

Sharkey - I'm buying most things new but I'm still gonna wash them. You don't really know where things have been before the shop and who has touched them whilst in the shop. I personally think it's best just to make sure that these things are clean and dust free, but I guess it's a personal choice.

Definitely ask your midwife/doc for a maternity exemption form to send off ladies if you don't already have one. It lasts you through pregnancy and till your baby is one and gives you free NHS dental treatment as well as free prescriptions.

I got mine at my booking in, its :money: me a fortune, I have had two dental check ups, a filling, a broken tooth fixed, two lots of antibiotics, some steroid cream and two lots of painkillers for my planned homebirth. God, I sound like I've been through a war zone :rotfl:
