Thanks Princess - have ordered with the mattress - looks like a good buy
Remembered Quidco too
MV - Good luck x - sounds promising!
Had my 16 week appt this morning - just blood pressure and wee check this morning so no jumping on the scales.
Don't need to see her again until 28 weeks but have 20 week scan on 16th Feb and an appointment with the consultant the following week.0 -

Thanks everyone for the labour vibes.
Decided to take your advice and phoned the birth centre earlier and spoke to a midwife (they are so much nicer there than my horrible GP midwife and the ones at the hospital!)
She said it definitely sounds like my body is getting ready, but that until my contractions are 2-3 mins apart and 60 seconds long, I shouldn't go in
Had a nice long soak in the bath with a few drops of clary sage oil which was nice. Unfortunately now I am out again my bladder is really hurting. The MW said that unless it is burning when I wee (it isn't) then it's probably just the baby being low down. I wish that could stop...it's really painful.
More blobs when I go to the toilet..how much of this stuff is there???:rotfl:
Just going to chill out now, watch some rubbish tv and relax.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -

Slept through to 6.30 am without even a loo break - YAY :j
MV - congrats on your "show" - can't advise if any of the other symptoms are things moving along or not. Yesterday I had lots of pains/BH etc and today its pretty quiet. In my area the mw will come out and check how far along you are before sending you to hospital and they have said don't even call (as a first timer) until you have 1 min contractions, coming every 3 mins for at least an hour. So I guess I'm saying don't panic too much as it seems early labour can be quite prolonged. Please keep us updated.
Giz, my yoga teacher talked a lot about how the screamer locked up her diaphragm, was in a really poor position (they all seem to lie flat on OBEM) and that now days it is very out-moded for mw's to keep urging women to push. I'm relieved I've got a more enlightened mw team around me.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
The cot is a very good buy, was tempted but hoping to get my aunties cot back from my MIL. My aunty gave it to my SIL for her bubs, but it was too big for her nursery so MIL set it up in the nursery at her house. Not sure if I will get it back MIL being a bit mean at the minute.Shes totally not interested in the baby and is being really devious at the minute trying to upset me and my OH but its not working.Im not rising to the bait :A Apricot , its really odd what our animals are up to. My dog is normally so settled and chilled out, I thought it was really cute at first but now Im getting about 2 hours a sleep a night , inbetween trips to the loo and wrestling with dog.Does anyone know if its really bad for the baby ,having an animal sleep in the room. Bubs will be in our room for around 5 months/6 months max while we try and sell the flat and so will my dog. Thanks to MSE for making it possible for me save to buy my new flat , yay !!

Yes I noticed that too (not that I've ever had a natural labour myself as always had sections)
Also did I imagine it or did the midwife actually say to the poor young girl while in labour - 'you won't be doing this again in a hurry will you?' the girl who had been taken in to be induced and ended up having a section with the odd partner I mean)
Thought that was pretty odd patronising and inappropriate.
I know the midwives were saying similar about the screamer (while in the staff room not to her face) but to be honest this was prob justified0 -
I've just ordered the cot, thanks! I've emailed them to ask if you can adjust the base, but when you zoom in there are two holes on the frame higher up, so hopefully that means yes. If no, then I'll have a think, but decided it's too good a price to miss and the order can always be cancelled later.
MV - Hope things get going for you. Is there anyone who can come and sit with you?
I watched OBEM and while I think the screamer was over the top, I wouldn't have liked to have that midwife. She didn't seem to know what to do with herself and if she'd said to me about screaming not helping in that tone, she'd have been out the door. I felt sorry for that poor girl though and her OH.
Yay for the HIP Dusty! Is your bathroom finished?
I can't remember anything else! Mummy to an amazing little girl0 -

When did you send yours off we sent ours last week but I was wondering how long they take?I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Hope you're feeling ok MV - walking up and down the stairs sideways is supposed to rock your pelvis in the same way as bouncing on a ball, if you can face it. It does sound like things are moving for you, but it can be a long old haul at the beginning. Is there anyone you'd be comfortable with asking to come over to keep you company while OH is at work?0
