I was just thinking that! Off the top of my head Fuzz, Legs, Emsy and now PSG have all had emergency c-sections  It would be interesting to read their birth stories if they're up to it.

Back from midwife and she thinks I have mastisis (sp?). She said I have to see my GP and get some antibiotics - so I will try and get an emergency appt with him tomorrow. I was due to see the MW next week anyway so we did all the necessary stuff and I got to hear baby girl's heartbeat again and it appeared straightaway no having to hunt for it :)

So still, very painful nip for me - although crustiness seems to have gone as long as I keep using my flannel :D

Its very very unfair for you.

I'd love some advice on dealing with my MIL! We had a big row and I'd like to resolve things but can't see a solution. The underlying problem is a culture clash, that the relationship we each want to have with the other is very different. I was brought up to be very independent and don't want/need a close relationship with her. I see my parents every few weeks and talk to them once or twice a week and I'd be happy with that sort of relationship with her. However, she wants to talk at least once a day, ideally would want to live with us, but if not see us every weekend. The situation is coming to a head because of the baby. She wants to be much more involved in our lives, but that's the last thing I want! I'm worried that she will interfere in how we chose to bring up the baby. She is still very involved in my husband's life eg making appointments for him which irritates me as he should take this responsibility himself, but he wants an easy life. I feel that I've got a lot of fights ahead to stop her interferring in how I bring up my son! She comes from a culture which expects the DIL to be respectful and look after her in-laws. Unfortunately, she is also quite immature and emotionally manipulative so discussing these issues isn't really an option. Does anyone have any advice for dealing with her without creating stress? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Oh dear. As someone who's MIL seems to be ill with advanced cancer, I am feeling pretty guilty that I have kept her at arm's length. She lives a fair way away, so its easier, and actually its not her so much as SIL I wanted to stay away from.

Can you just withdraw a bit, sort of play dead? I'm afraid I stopped having any involvement with SIL after she attacked DH on the 'phone in such an agressive display the whole house could hear it. I just speak when spoken to and that's that.

After deciding to withdraw, I got a call from MIL asking "what she had done to upset me that I hadn't done this this and this that she was expecting me to do" so I explained to her that we had a new baby, a house to renovate, and busy busy jobs and that we would do what we could when we could. I made sure I did this on speakerphone with DH in the room so no stories could be told about what had been said!

Although I feel a bit guilty now she's ill, I'm also happy with the choice I have made as if I had to listen to any more of her childrearing views, and how I'm this that and the other, I would be a bag of nerves by now.

    HTH but probably not!!

eta having seen what fanta said, I did leave the phone to ring an awful lot, and then did 1571!!

mastitis doesn't generally cause crusty nips hun, the main symptoms are a hot, red patch on the breast that's sore to touch and fever symptoms, shivers high temperature etc... If you don't have the fever then it's not mastitis... :) Do your bras fit well? The biggest culprit of blocked ducts and mastitis is badly fitting underwear...

Has anybody had one of these ? http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Bartholins-cyst/Pages/Introduction.aspx

    Sorry for TMI.....

I had one diagnosed before I fell PG and that one went away but another came back and was larger so I accidentally on purpose when in a hot bath popped it. Paranoid now I made the wrong choice as it was just blood but have doused myself in savlon wound wash.

Any advice to calm me greatly appreciate although at the moment it is the size of a grape with all the swelling. I look deformed down there!

Oh my you have my sympathies! I had one many moons ago (when I fist met OH - which was rather embarassing:o). I was in that much agony my dad took me to A&E, luckily just as the word "lancing" was mentioned it burst there and then, was revolting. Anyway, I think you'll be fine, I'd put a warm clean flannel or something on it to maybe draw out more of the badness.

Good luck and ((hugs)) they hurt like hell!

    Ooh Fanta, sounds uncomfortable _pale_

I think just keep it clean and dry and see what happens... See the Dr if it gets worse...

Thank you. I did have another rotten cold that finished before this nip business. And the midwife was more concerned about the red soreness around the nip rather than the crust. I whipped it out to show her :D But the whole nipple area is so so so painful to touch :(

I do hope its not an incorrect bra, as I only got measured in M&S the week before last and bought soem new (non wired) ones. Grrr.

Fanta - Ok you trump me. I'd rather the crusty nip over what you've had  But yes, maybe just keep it clean and monitor and see your doc if it worsens.

I was more worried that gunk didn't come out and it was just blood. It did say on one website to take a hot bath 4 times a day should encourage it to burst...Veet beat it to that.

Will grab another hot flannel, keep it clean and dry and hope for the best. Last time I did go to the docs but it wasn't in an annoying place like this one is. Fingers crossed....but not legs!

    Thanks guys.
