Had no debit cards made today (bank holiday) within 10 minutes of ordering.

    Well pleased.

    Are you sure?

Anyone else have a Metro Bank Credit Card? If so, does it work at a "Pay at the Pump" petrol station for you? Mine's declined every time :-/

I have only just found this thread and so have only read a few pages, but throught i'd share my story of Metro.
I opened a joint account with my mum for holidays in High Wycombe last year.We then travelled to USA & Canada, and about 50% of the time the card was declined,so not great! Now my mum never uses her card at all its kept at home in safe, begining of July she took it out and used it to put some money in over the desk. Then month later we got statement and was bit shocked as it was pages long and we don't use the account except for travels and hadn't been anywhere, after calling bank we found out mums card had been cloned and they had spent thousands! Now what annoys me the most is Metro never contacted me when this happen,ie they obv' don't keep an eye on accounts for unusual activity(in past my main bank have rang me if they think its something unusual going on)so until I got the statement(and a massive shock!)I knew nothing. Also its the way they are now dealing with it,weeks on and I have to keep chasing them up and am still waiting for most of the money to be returned! I know accounts get cloned all the time, but I for one can't wait to get my money back and put it in a real bank that will be less slap harry with my hard earned cash!
  • Funny that, Metro send me a statement every month, even when there has been no activity on the account.

I never get sent a statement from Metrobank - because my statements are online and I can look at them whenever I like.
Having said this, I haven't logged in for a few weeks now - better rectify this immediately, lol.

New improved Internet Banking coming soon. Available to preview now. See here.
    https://www.metrobankonline.co.uk/Internet-Banking/NewPersonalInternetBanking/

It will include the ability for existing customers to open accounts online. This is long overdue and may help reduce those queues.

N.B. "Please note, even though the site is a preview of what's to come, any activity or transactions you make are live and will show on your account. Until we have fully launched our new Internet Banking service, you can continue to use the preview site or the existing Internet Banking service."

Looks a big improvement compared with the old site. I still don't like the design (far too huge typeface, and cluttered appearance, IMO) but just alone the online application [for existing customers only?] looks a major step forward. If they manage to make this available to everyone, they might have made a breakthrough.

Just an update....Money has been returned, and I just can't belive this statement arrived and its been cloned again within a month and yet again emptied! How I managed to keep my cool in bank whilst having to report all the mis-payments yesterday I have no idea! I have zero faith in this bank now!

Did they not change cancel the old card and re-issue one with a new number?
