Metro bank - new customer review

opened an account yesterday in ten mins and loved the service. so refreshing to not have to wait and be treated like !!!!! by someone to whom you are giving your money to. received the card on the spot, didn't need to provide a million pieces of identification, and the whole process took about fifteen minutes. tried to open an account with n&p recently and gave up after sending documents in the mail four times. was disgraceful service and gave up!
the internet banking is rather simple, but i'm using this pretty much only for pulling out money when o/s as i am fed up with lining the pockets of these other banks for absolutely no reason - so no complaints from me. so long as the card works o/s, that is!0 -
I am very unhappy with MetroBank at present because of an issue with my 18-month fixed rate savings account.

What is it people are finding limited? What can you do with other banks online you can't do with Metro Bank? I'm at a loss to understand the issue.
I've had my problems with MB and they almost lost me as a customer at one point, but all is now resolved and my day-to-day banking is back with them. Online banking has not been an issue for me in the last couple of years.
Having banked with almost every bank going I can categorically say that Metro bank's online offering is pretty good. As with every online banking service there have been odd occasions when I can't log on for whatever reason, but nothing like what happened to the RBS group in recent times.
Looking forward to hearing what people have to say . . .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Anyone else have a Metro Bank Credit Card? If so, does it work at a "Pay at the Pump" petrol station for you? Mine's declined every time :-/
I hear you.. Declined in Belgium, Iceland, Netherlands, France at the pump. ALWAYS.
In France gets declined every time at the tolls.
Thanks to my Aqua card for paying the petrol.0 -

They've obviously issued you guys and an online only card. This means the card won't work when the card can't be authorised (Like a toll) or when the full transaction amount isn't authorised (Like a pay@pump).0 -
I have heard quite a few people say this about Metro Bank's online banking service. It's almost becoming an urban myth.

Don't forget the new Metro Bank online banking - https://preview.metrobankonline.co.uk - it's really good.0 -
One neat thing I've just discovered on the new internet banking is you can see transactions being processed. That means you can find out what's going on with transactions that you thought went through but were unsure, got interrupted, might have been declined, etc etc. Very handy for international payments where there's often confusion about what's happened.
How is debit card acceptance these days? I've had trouble using it in ATMs, particularly I didn't find anywhere that would let me change my PIN.0 -
I read somewhere on the Metro Bank site (and please correct me if I'm wrong!) that it would charge me to withdraw money from UK ATMs if they are NOT special Metro Bank ones.
I know that some ATMs issue a charge - usually these are the ones that can be found at cinemas, nightclubs and the bloody middle of nowhere, Hilton. However, I was wondering whether it would be free to use bank ATMs that don't normally charge like Natwest, Barclays and Halifax?0
