New Cam Belt Price?
Hi I've been quoted for a new cambelt for a renault Clio by the dealer of £458.67 is this a competitive price? I am in the process of checking with in other garages, just thought I'd ask the question here also. With the cambelt are you better sticking with the dealer for such a job to be done?
Thx

Renault use a specialist tool to time the cams and lock them in.
I believe any creditable garage would be able to do it even though your best bet is Renault. You could try a Renault Specialist too.

I was quoted £280 by a local independant renault specialist (not a dealer) to change a timing belt on a 2004 Renault Scenic Diesel.
I eventually got it done by someone else (renault technician, doing it as a 'side job') for £180 - that was for a full timing belt kit, with new tensioners, etc - not just the belt change.
So there will definitely be independant garages that will do it, and considerably cheaper than a dealer.0 -
I had my Laguna belts & kit replaced by a renault specialist in Edinburgh, at around £250 they were half the price of the franchised dealer.
As others suggest, I'd shop around or google for a french car specialist in your area.0 -
We were quoted a couple of years ago for £500 from an Audi dealer for our A4. We took it to a VW dealer instead and got it done for £250.0

If they have plastic pulleys get them changed as well, I did mine on a petrol mondeo, The centre of the pulleys
had cracks radiating from the centre.
