Hello

I'm looking for the cheapest place to get an MDA Vario II.

The tariff I'm looking at is Flext 25 + Web n walk.

The only place I can find who sells these phones is T-Mobile themselves and the only special offers I can find is £12 cashback via Quidco.

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough? Anyone got any links?

Thanks.

  • Did you have any luck with this? Iam looking for the same thing!!

Wondering if you can upgrade a 12 month free T-Mobile package to include the web n walk and get the phone on ebay? (the phone has loads of different names e.g Qtek 9600)

    Also called Orange's SPV M3100.
  • I found all these names for it;

SPV M3100, HTC Hermes 100, HTC TyTn, Vodafone VPA Compact III, Vodafone 1605, T-Mobile MDA Vario II, the Cingular 8525, QTEK 9600

  • if you're just looking to get the phone at the cheapest price possible....then go to ebay....you can then sign up for some 12months free 12month contract cashback deal somewhere else

i've done the math b4....at its cheapest, the phone will cost you about £390 for the entire course of your contract at T-Mo or Orange (look at their business deals), but on ebay the price of the phone has been steadily dropping and is now at about the sub-£300 level....

i got my vario ii for about £285 from ebay....i recently helped a friend buy one off ebay for (a shockingly low) £225....you can unlock them for free via the xda developers forum (a guy named pof came up with the solution) and stick whichever sim card you wish onto it (i'm using a 3 sim at the mo)
  • been looking at that option, think I need to phone T-mobile and find out if you can add web n walk to a package once you have taken it out (as the free deals don't seem to include it!)

  • molar et al,

where did you get it in the end and on which deal.

I'm out of contract at the moment and investigating getting this phone on t-mobile with web and walk....

    a few questions

    1) do t-mobile actually block ports - i realise you are not meant to use the phone as a modem with the 7.50 quid a month web and walk add on

    2) are you delighted with the phone? is it a realistic solution for mobile browsing - any chance of a mini review/first impressions.

    3) can i unlock the t-mobile contract model easily/safely?

    4) what's the cheapest i can get it on a t-mobile contract - any tips - prefereably 12 months but i think i'll need to commit to 18 months by the looks?

I am on trains for two hours each day with my commute and i think this device will help me pass the time nicely :-)? Seems like the best solution for mobile browsing at the moment short of a laptop - i'm weighing this purchase up against a macbook ???
