With regard to the school uniform, please go to the school and find a kind teacher, my Mum is a teacher and has boxes and boxes of lost property, which she is not able to hand back to the owner, she is more than happy to supply a person need. I am sure every school is the same.0

Dumpster diving is not about finding dirty food in the bins. The OP who said this meant local tips, where people have deposited clothing and shoes in the big bins especially for these types of clothes. Also people leave things at tips that are still in perfectly good condition, like chairs, tables, sofa, etc.
good luck and I hope you got your situation sorted.0 -
Go and see the Headteacher.Depending on your area the school may get a deprivation grant -they can use this to support children in many ways ( we just bought shoes and trainers for some kids , paid for a taxi to mat unit for a mum in labour , paid towards trips for 2 classes-that is just this week)Thank you everyone, you have all been so helpul. the form for the free school meals, has to be signed by my local contact point i keep getting told.. I have been there and they keep telling me i have to be in reciept, even though im being processed and the school wont take anything less than the official documentation. The school is very strict and threatened to stop supplying my son with meals for the rest of the school year because i owed them 9 pounds despite my situation. I really think they won budge , i could show them my bank statement maybe, but i feel it would be falling on death ears. I will ask for the emergency fund today and explain how much i need it for food and shoes hopefully they will see to me quickly, even if they dont i would like to thank you all for your help. My friend who advised me on the escorting, could see my desperation i dont think she meant any harm , and im really not to sure about dumpster diving, i dont want to make my son ill. To be honest id rather he ate and i didnt but thank you for your suggestions all the same. you are all very lovely people. wish me luck
Headteachers have more discretion over budgets, FSM than you would think. They also have contacts at other agencies.Give it a try.0 -
Household items and clothing i think, i think she said a budgetting loan is available to everyone on benefits the maximum they award a single person is £350.00 they deduct the repayments straight from her benefits.
Hi
I got a budgetting loan a couple of years ago they I was single mum and they gave me £850 or something around that mark.
I had to fill in what everything was for. Clothes for my lo, money towards rent as housing benefit were soo slow, food, toiletries, some debts that had to be paid etc etc. I was paying a tiny bit out of my income support but im waiting for them to get in touch now as I got a job soon after that. They were really helpful with me so it is worth enquiring about.
You have to have been claiming for 26 weeks.
see link http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/On_a_low_income/DG_10018905
the op could also apply once shes through that 26 week period as they will count money toards credit you have had to use to buy stuf whilst in hardship.
HTHI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

I agree with what others have said about going into your school to talk to the head. If it is the secretary that has said that he can't have school dinners until you pay it is probably because she has to spend a lot of her time chasing payment from those who can pay but won't. If the head has a heart they will let your child have school dinners without payment and it is always good to let the school know what is going on. It is likely that they have already noticed the shoes and picked up that somethng is going on and may be able to point you in the direction of other places which could help.
Good schools care about the whole child not just their education and will do what they can to help you.Money situation: August low point -2883.24

Its not right at all that you should be in this situation and please, don't go down the cam girl/escort route, some things are just not worth it.
If you dont need the help, I hope it all works out for you soon and someone is able to help you somewhere x
I was going to offer to do the same as suburbanwifey, but if you would rather i could place order and pay for it then maybe you could collect the order from your local tesco store. Please PM me if this would help you.

hello every one , i contacted the jobcentrre by phone, and pretty much pleaded with them to send official headed proof that i have no income and will be in reciept of benefits soon, the lady on the other end was reluctant at first but in the end said she would send one out it should get here monday morning, and i will take that to the school. on saturday, i sold eveything i could think of ( including old dvds an old phone i had to hunt for and my bike ) and got £ 45 pounds from it . which is great. i took the advice of cancelling my direct debits and got on the phone to some of them directly, and explained. I think they could tell i was in a bad way and although they cant cancell the billing they have frozen it till the end of december till i am in a better place. . thank u so much for your offers of help, i never imagined people out there could be so kind, i however am going to spend the money i got on a cheap pair of shoes from aasda , and lots of value items, to see us through. Iam going to ask for the crisis loan on monday morning and im going to save this for things like travel and emerggencies, (to get to the hospital for my mum, and to get my son to school by bus when the weather is really severe as its a 40 minute walk usually) i am very greatful for the sugestion of gingerbread and people i can talk to , cause sometimes things seem to much to bare when you are alone. I cant ask the farther of my son , cause once i got pregnant he ditched me and moved away, i will do this on my own.and without going down the escort route. but once again , i feel like crying but this time because you have all been so helpful and kind.0
