Update - rang the insurance company and they won't reduce the premium, I have to understand that when I came to them last year, as it was the 1st year of insurance, that I had the introductry offer....... but if I would like to remove legal cover, protected no claims bonus and up my excess to £500 (currently £200) that bring the policy down.........

It says it all........ so it be one of the other companies!! x

There have been a fair number of discussion on here recently about legal cover,

I think the general consensus is don’t get it as if the accident is your fault your insurance company will fight your corner to reduce their own costs and if the accident is someone else’s fault there will be lots of no win no fee claims management/PI firms willing to take your case (and give you a handful of cash for the privilege.)

I've had 2 accidents previously, which were none fault, and at the time the legal cover was an absolute godsend, as one of the accidents took 3 years to settle, dispite the driver being found guilty 6 months after the accident.

I have got a quote today for £210 with the AA, so have snapped their hands off.

Never a truer word said..... then it was get your 1st yr of insure behind you, then your get cheaper ins....

Im aged 44 a hgv driver who up untill 2 yrs ago had never had my own policy my company insurance gave me 5yrs no claims and i found a quote for £197 fully comp for my vw van, following year my insurer quoted me £350, went on line and got it for £220 with the same broker. Funny thing was they wanted £245 if i went tpf&t

Just going to pay £867 on a 9 year old vw with 2 years ncd and aged 23. I drive for a living doing around 700 miles per week in my works van, thing is I only use my car 3/4 times a month and lucky if I do over 2000 miles in it a year.
