At the moment I am trying to empty the fridge freezer and the cupboards. When I achieve this and get back from holidays I must go shopping in Iceland. Last time I heard anyone mention Iceland was at Christmas last year. Iceland was in the local newspaper as they had a turkey joint/roast, whatever you call it, in the freezer and there was a rat in it!!

The rat was not supposed to be a free Christmas present, apparently it had got in when the item was being packed and then it was froze.

It would make a change from turkey curry on boxing day ;)

Seriously though I think that most big chains have had a *scare* like this - I personally LOVE Iceland when it comes to restocking my freezer - dead cheap and decent fodder :D

Hi IA. Hope the supermarket shop goes OK. I'm trying to cut mine down at the moment but failing dismally!
Ash looked sooo grown up in her own bed. Glad there was only the one bump!
My DS (14 months) learnt to climb up onto the sofa this morning so I'm waiting for a large bump too!

Afternoon! Back from our food shop :) The results were...
£30 in Tesco (Should've been £35 but we had half a pint glass of pennies etc for the coinstar machine!)
    £15 in Iceland
£5 in fruit and veg shop...

Total - £50! Damn I'm good... does mean however that we may go slightly over when we need milk but for our first week I'm claiming a victory ;) Plus what we got should last us a couple weeks so next week should be even better! :) Need to work out how to do a new budget thingy on excel though..

Anyway.. have uploaded a video to youtube we took of Ash and K earlier... it's so funny i was doing high 5's with Ashey and we asked her to give K one and she slapped her cheek! BUT K thought it was hilarious and laughed her head off! We videoed as much as we could but it was soooo funny and then K was sick everywhere.. nice.lol

Will post the link up when it's finished uploading.

hi :hello: here's a list of some of the 'family favourites' and how much roughly they cost..

Sausage casserole... £2 (bag of 40 sausages from iceland normally lasts a month) :), some veg and potatoes, saus cass mix (colmans) 69p.. dirt cheap and delicious...
Chicken risotto/supreme as I call it... chopped up chicken breast £2.50 a bag from iceland, chicken supreme mix (colmans)69p, rice 79p for tescos own boil in the bag stuff. Add some broccoli and it's gorgeous
Roast dinners with veg and potatoes... tesco have whole chickens 2 for £5 at the moment. :)
Spag bol with mediterrainian vegetables.. pack of spaghetti is 17p in tesco, mince you can buy a big bag from iceland for £2, sauce is dolmio (i think) and is £1.38 at last check...

Basically we buy the cheapest of everything we can and cook everything from scratch. We buy fresh fruit, veg and potatoes from our local market or fruit and veg shop and it's soooo much cheaper doing everything from scratch, it's healthier and tastes better too. We find the bulk of our food shopping budget goes on nappies and formula though! If you've got a home bargains near you they sell packs of 'pudgies' baby wipes for 59p which are fab, and we use tesco's own nappies for both the girls and a pack is £3.97 :)

Also meal plan... buy what you NEED and not what you just want. If you only want it on an impulse then put it back.. :) And don't shop when you're hungry or when you've got the kids with you or they're bound to add something to your basket!

    Cheers for that :)
