Hi IA,I've been an avid reader of your journal for a good month or so now (Found the link via BW). I think you're such an inspiration!

Can I be nosey and ask what sort of meals you have?

I'm in a similar boat family wise - Myself, hubby, a 21 month old and a 3 month old (On formula) to feed and we always spend atleast £70 per week - And that's with me trying to cut down! Thanks :)

hi :hello: here's a list of some of the 'family favourites' and how much roughly they cost..

Sausage casserole... £2 (bag of 40 sausages from iceland normally lasts a month) :), some veg and potatoes, saus cass mix (colmans) 69p.. dirt cheap and delicious...
Chicken risotto/supreme as I call it... chopped up chicken breast £2.50 a bag from iceland, chicken supreme mix (colmans)69p, rice 79p for tescos own boil in the bag stuff. Add some broccoli and it's gorgeous
Roast dinners with veg and potatoes... tesco have whole chickens 2 for £5 at the moment. :)
Spag bol with mediterrainian vegetables.. pack of spaghetti is 17p in tesco, mince you can buy a big bag from iceland for £2, sauce is dolmio (i think) and is £1.38 at last check...

Basically we buy the cheapest of everything we can and cook everything from scratch. We buy fresh fruit, veg and potatoes from our local market or fruit and veg shop and it's soooo much cheaper doing everything from scratch, it's healthier and tastes better too. We find the bulk of our food shopping budget goes on nappies and formula though! If you've got a home bargains near you they sell packs of 'pudgies' baby wipes for 59p which are fab, and we use tesco's own nappies for both the girls and a pack is £3.97 :)

Also meal plan... buy what you NEED and not what you just want. If you only want it on an impulse then put it back.. :) And don't shop when you're hungry or when you've got the kids with you or they're bound to add something to your basket!

    Hi IA,

Does this shopping list cover a meal plan you've done, or have you put down for your most 'normal' food stuff?

I found menu planning is great for the weekly shop, also means that I don't buy too much fruit & veg that then goes off!
No meal plan.. I just have an idea in my head of what meals we normally have and what we normally buy. :)
