No offence taken at all Sarah!

Soooo......yesterday I was feeling a little "meh" - as all of this huge change continues to sink in little by little. One of those emotional days really, when the enormity of the life changes is apparent. These days are always difficult to deal with because there is no way I would turn the clock back - I am truly looking forward to the future, but yet they creep up from time to time to make you assess, reassess, and check out your inner strength and what you really want, I guess.....

Anyway, in order to combat the blues, and because I discovered that my shoes I was wearing for work yesterday really WERE past their best and beyond repair (cold wet feet, not a good look or feel!), I found myself in LK Bennett.....and bought THE most amazing (for me) pair of boots that now adorn my person.....

the reason they are amazing, is because they go over my calves - and are the most slimming pair of boots I have ever ever found. They were expensive, but I see them as an investment - cost per wear over the coming years will be absolutely fine, because they are a classic, and I love them :o

They are an essential part of my new capsule wardrobe and they make me feel all happy and smiley.

When I come back from my holiday, I am going to have another go through my shoes/wardrobe/airing cupboard, and have another ditch of stuff as it is apparent that things I thought were still "fine", actually aren't and I want everything lovely and smiley from now on :)

    Morning Hypno,

So much change in the last few months - I'm not sure I would have handled it as well as you have done. You are one strong lady. I'm sorry to hear that yesterday was so tough - but as you say these are times for you to refllect on where you have been, where you are now and where you are going.

Love the boots - they are a classic and will last you a long time. That capsule wardrobe is coming on a treat.

Hope today is better, the house is becoming more like home and the holiday planning is going well.

Thanks urg - this year certainly has been a toughie, for so many of us in so many different ways. Reading everyone's diaries, as well as going through my own hassles has certainly given me lots of food for thought as we go forward into the new year. I am determined to draw on all of these experiences to ensure that the children and I get the most out of life one way or another.

I think that 2011 will be another year of self-discovery.....because we are certainly not at the "finished article" at this point in time. But if it is as successful as 2010 has been for that particular journey, then I am very definitely looking forward to it.

Well done on finding the boots. I'm currently on the boot hunt too, but I'm looking for something that looks at least smart casual but has good grips too, as likely to be in cold icey places a lot unfortunately.

Anyway, since cutting down on the wardrobe, I've found that things are wearing out quicker, simply because they actually get worn a lot more often, might that be contributing to the 'fine' things not being so fine now. Besides that I'm getting choosier too about what I want in the wardrobe, it seems to be a case of it evolving over time rather than the Gok program's quick fix. Are you finding it like that too?

Hope the holiday planning is going smoothly and that you have a smooth trip there, and that the holiday blows away the last of the 'blues'.

I definitely think that the wardrobe thing is "evolving" as you say, Se.....all part of the deciding what I want and who I want to be, I guess. As I peel back each layer, and take perhaps a bit more of a confident step further, that means that there is stuff in my home that no longer works because it belongs with the "old" me.

As for holiday planning, well the best I can say to that is :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

So far, the most I have got planned is to have a headlight bulb and the windscreen wipers replaced tomorrow before the drive down at the weekend.....no packing done, no breakdown cover arranged, no idea where my ski boots are, and so on and so forth. Still, I am sure it will all come together  I do have a tunnel crossing booked, so that is something, although I actually have no idea where I am going just yet :rotfl:

A disorganised road trip - surely the recipe for a break filled with fun, laughter and fab memories! I'm sure it will all come together!

Well, I have done the sensible bit of it and arranged breakdown cover for the year (via quidco of course) so that's the main thing.

The rest, well that will be quite organic I suspect :rotfl:

Hypno - it could be worth double checking the car insurance. We discovered in the small print that unless you paid extra for a 'green card' our fully comp insurance became the legal minimum 3rd party cover when abroad. That was with Tesco's, don't know who you're with or if yours is fully comprehensive, but it seems to be one of the things the insurance companies are creeping in, they do like creeping in extra get out clauses etc..

The boots are fab - great purchase, Hypno. I was looking at some boots myself whe n I was in Sofia but they either did not fit me or were very heavily lines (which will e very uncomfortable here).

Have a great holiday and come back with 'a story to tell'.
