When my dad was in the RAF, if he was working Christmas day, Santa always managed to visit us on a different day when he knew we would all be together.

Hypno, sorry to hear that exchange didnt go ahead. You can do anything so you are right It can be done. Although why it takes BS 5 days to send funds is beyond me. It doesnt take 5 days to take money of us.Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. it is certainly frustrating, but I can only do what I can do, so am trying not to get myself too upset over it.
But I DO want to move by Christmas!!! They are very very aware of that.......we shall see!

Oh, I am so envious. I would have loved to live in the 20s. Always wanted to be a flapper (not that kind). Enjoy yourself.
If you dont make Christmas you could aim for the week between Christmas and New Year and then start the year as you mean to go on. I don't yet know what the various solicitors' festive season opening hours will be - some close between Christmas and New Year - we shall investigate next week.
but, at some point in the very near future, I will have moved house. And it will be FABULOUS!!!!!

Hypno - still two weeks to Christmas, all is not lost yet! If you keep packing up stuff as you have been doing then when the deal is done you will be able to move quickly. And if by some chance it doesn't happen by Christmas, then so what? You are still going to move house and start your new life very soon. Fingers crossed! One life - your life - live it!0

Another one here hoping that things go to plan from here on in. A simultaneous exchange/complete is always a risk because you're loading stuff into the removal van before the deal has actually completed, so if god forbid anything does go wrong, it can go REALLY wrong! Safer by far to have a few days between. When we came here we were intending to go for simultaneous but in the end things changed in the run up and we forced an exchange earlier than intended as our seller was starting to muck about and we knew he'd done it with other buyers before.

I just wanted to wish you all the very best for negotiations around the house move - As the great Julian of Norwich said "All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well".
So, you might not get what you want - but you will get what you need.0
