Just a moan about feedback process

I bought an item from a seller (only £4-50, inc. postage - so not a big deal), and paid immediately through paypal.
Now, as far as I am concerned, I've kept my side of the bargain and paid for the item - I think I should get positive feedback and the item should then be posted to me.

However, the seller does not think this - he thinks that when I have recieved the item and left him feedback, he'll leave feedback for me.

This just seems to me that he's holding me hostage for positive feedback

Now, I've no doubts that the item in question will be fine, and I'll leave positive feedback anyway (he has 100%, 300+ feedback) but this just gets my back up.

    Rant over.

The way I look at it is, the transaction isn't over until delivery is complete and the buyer is happy. I will leave feedback first, but I'll wait 3 or 4 days after delivery first to make sure there are no problems.
  • Don't ebay remove unfair feedback? It doesn't seem fair when sellers hold someone to ransom

The thing is you might not be happy with it and the seller might refund.

If they automatically leave positive you could leave a negative even though they refund. Most sellers won't see this as justified.

That is why sellers won't leave positive feedback straight after payment because infact that is just one point of the transaction. The whole experience of the transaction for both parties isn't over untill both are satisfied. Which is why in my view there is nothing wrong with not leaving feedback just because the buyer has paid.

Many buyers will neg a seller that has left positive even though they may well give very good service with dealing with the buyers compliant. That doesn't then allow the feedback to reflect how the seller handeld the situation

    Not a hope :(

    They only remove feedback if:

    - It is mutually removed
    - It contains obscenities, or bleeped words like f***er (insults such as 'liar' or 'fraud' will not be removed)
    - It contains links
    - It is too long, ie. someone has used ebay Taiwan to leave extra long feedback
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

I think the point is that if a scammer or a non paying bidder gets a neg they can't ask ebay to remove it just because they don't like it. If feedback could be removed on the request of any user then it would be pointless leaving any.

Unfortunately the price to pay for that is that ocassionally a legit user will end up with a neg that they do not deserve, but then anyone looking at the feedback overall will see that it was left maliciously or in retaliation and ignore it.

well one of my friends stopped ebay because she had only 13 feedbacks and then one neg came along, totally unfair IMO and plummeted her rating  she hasn't asked for removal but nobody bid on her last item :(
