I've been thinking for a while about whether to do a DLP trip or not. Our boys are now 7 and 10. We recently took them to Disney on Ice which they enjoyed but they weren't ecstatic about it. Are they getting a bit old now that they don't believe the characters are real? Also, is DLP more for girls with the castle/princesses etc? I'd appreciate some advice as would hate to spend our annual holiday budget on a few days at DLP only to find it was only so-so! Also, what would be ideal time to spend - 2 or 3 full days in parks?
for a first trip taster, I'd say 2 full days in midweek outside of any school holidays or public holidays.
DLP is so not just for little girls - there is lots for boys and adults to do too. Toy Story Playland in the Studios is right out of the movie, there is a Cars ride, Crush coaster, Tower of Terror, Moteurs car stunt show, Phantom Manor, Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan, Buzz ride, Star Tours (and characters) Indiana Jones, Big Thunder Mountain railroad etc etc etc. You won't see hide nor hair of a Princess in Discoveryland or Frontierland (pure cowboy there).

My boys are now 14 and 8 and we have been going every yr ( at least once a yr) for 4 yrs
It's more about the rides now,but my 8 yr old still likes Buzz and Woody etc and likes to watch the parades
My teenager its all about the coasters!
Me I like it all
No,not for girls at all, plenty of boyish rides etc and the motor stunt show is a big hit with my car mad youngest !
3 days would give you time to see and do everything0 -
Hi i was hoping someone could help me....
My plan is to go on the day trip to disneyland with my partner and 2 (adult) sisters. Would the voucher cover us to all to travel over on the ferry? it states clearly about the max adults for disney and being two which is fine as i was going to buy the extra two when we get there (which i think is ok, please correct me if im wrong). But im just abit confused regarding the ferry as ive read on the terms that the max number of people traveling in each vechicle is 8 but then says ticket covers only the listed family make up e.g 2 adults and 2 children, 2 adults and 0 children , 1 adult and 3 children etc (but i not sure if this mean just for the park or covers the ferry also).
I would appricate any help in making this clearer for me! ThanksReady for Frugal challenge 20160 -

My understanding of this is that if you are a day trip passenger you can go over the max number of adults if you pay £48 extra for each extra person over the make up. upto the max car capacity which is 8.
I dont know much about p and o ferries but if It was me I would go on to there website and see if they take foot passengers. If so then see how much it is to go direct with them?
hth
Good luck everyone and Thank you to all posters xx0 -
can anyone roughly work out how much for a mum dad child of 15 child of 5,,staying over for 1 nite with passes for the park the nxt day,,going on a mon tues which is 9.50,,,this has got me baffled
help....................:j0 -
Not sure if you'll be able to do the Sun deal as it's for either 1 adult + 3 children, 2 adults + children or 2 adults + 1 child.
Seeing as an adult is classed as over 12 yrs @ Disney I think you'll have to pay for the £15 year old separately.
In theory you should only actually have to pay extra for the park tickets for him though. That said, it also depends which hotel you book as some only have double beds, while others have 1 double and a bunk bed (which is presumably what you'd want).0 -
It's totally pants.
As things are tight I thought this would be a lovely(cheaper) way for surprising my other half on our 3yr anniversary.
As a student teacher I cannot take time off during the week, so I figured go on early Saturday come home late Sunday(end of January).
or even late Friday, have the park ticket on the Saturday and possibly arrange a cheaper hotel/return Sunday.
NO CAN DO.
They only offered me a £388 deal :S So much for £9.50 :P .
With that I'd be tempted to wait longer and save to 'do' New york instead, but that wasn't the point.
Whilst I'm here anyone got any ideas?
I thought maybe a return on the ferry, reasonable hotel in France/Paris. But then what would we do? neither of us are 'into' art or are very cultured and are strapped for cash, and as it's my surprise, it was be 'my shout'.
Hmmm... very confused0 -

Take them to Parc Asterix instead. More and better rides, much bigger too,, much shorter queues, the food is better and cheaper and there's no annoying fluffy animals wandering around. You can get passes with Tesco vouchers. We went to DLP three years ago with our then 11 yr old boy and 6 girl and frankly, we were bored by mid afternoon. If you take out the shops, the restaurants and all the kiosks selling something you're left with a few mediocre rides and a lot of massive queues. The only reason we went back for the second day was because I'd already paid for the passes. By contrast on the same holiday we went to Parc Asterix twice and practically had to be swept out the gates both days. We've been back twice since then too. I wouldn't go back to DLP if it was free tbh.
Actually I did get one laugh at DLP. One of the back access gates was open slightly and I spotted two chipmunks having a ciggie break before going back on duty. Got to love the French....a US chipmunk would get fired if it went on duty smelling of ciggie smoke!Val.0 -
lol Val I recognise you from UKCS !
TBH you either "get" Disney or you don't IMO
I don't think the rides are mediocre and actually some of them are better than their US versions, apparently
I don't see how anyone can be bored after 1/2 a day @ Disney
did you do any rides / see any shows or parades ?!!!0 -

did you really think you would get a whole Disney trip for £9.50 ????!
Why not just use the deal for cheap tickets ( £29.50 for a family of 4 in half term or £17.50 term time but not a mon or tues)
book eutotunnel using tesco deals if you collect points???)
and then book a cheapy hotel offsite
look on expedia.co.uk search hotels close to > attraction > disneyland paris
there are a few premiere classe,a campanile,novotel etc0
