I worked 3 jobs to pay my way and its only part ill health that stops me working full time" - if the daughter is 18 and she was married 15 months ago she was hardly left with 2 children to bring up as one would have been 17!!
Oh yeah....thats right...once children get to 16/17 we just give up on them dont we ? We dont bring them up any more do we ?
If , as the OP says , she was left to bring up her children alone then even if they were 16/17 , they were in education so if she herself doesnt work 3 jobs to support them then who do you propose DOES support them ?
Daisyflower - do you have children ? Maybe the Op needs congratulated for holding down 3 jobs to support her family....not people like you sneering at her and being pathetic enough to go through old posts trying to pick holes in her story !
Maybe if you cant find anything constructive to say you should just trying saying nothing ? Seriously , people like you need to grow up !
To the Op - im sorry for your situation , just ignore people like the above posters , they have nothing better to do than judge....maybe instead of judging , they themselves should go out and try working 3 jobs ?The loopy one has gone :j0 -
Given that there is a dad somewhere then by the sounds of it, is he able to help out with financial support for your daughter? Is your daughter in receipt of EMA at the moment - Hopefully if you've been giving her the majority of the £125 per week as you say for transport, clothes, lunches etc., then she'll have been able to save up her EMA money which should tide her over for some of her expenses for the new course.0

Forgetting all the other things, if your daughter starts an apprenticeship that is outside of the qualifying criteria for child tax credits, yes you'll lose what you were receiving.
Wouldn't the OP possibly still qualify for WTC though?
Also, if your daughter was receiving most of the tax credits herself for various things, then once she is working, she will have to pay her transport/clothes herself and contribute to food/bills meaning your outgoings should decrease.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

Would it be worth trying to find employment that was more suitable for your needs.., something less heavy (I cleaned in a hospital for a while, and remember how active the job was lol). Perhaps getting your name down for some big shops if they don't have vacancies now? I'm just thinking, given your income is going to decrease and there will end up being some shortfall.., could u increase your earnings without affecting your health? I am sorry, I don't know how it works, but as u are getting working tax credits would the job centre be able to advise?0

Depending on your income/hours you should still be able to claim WTC and maybe some housing benefit if you rent? As far as I am aware you will no longer be able to claim single occupancy council tax rebate but instead should be able to claim 2nd adult rebate. Your now working child should be pretty much self sufficient so the money you were receiving for her and spening on her should all but balance out if you take a little board money. I do appreciate that however much they earn they still seem to never have any money though!!
Just as an aside, you posted in May of this year and again mentioned a husband so, if you have only been claiming tax credits for less than 6 month, it may not be as hard as you think to adjust!! Is the 2nd child that you mentioned now working or can you continue to claim tax credits for this one?0 -
