    Only one model:
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/freeview-freesat-pvr/humax/foxsat-hdr/huma-foxsat-hdr-box
Or try the Humax digital site as they do 'manager's special's (A grades and refurbs at lower prices).
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Does this come in the 500gb as well? What do you think about buying a grade A product as I notice that these only come with a 1yr guarantee and not 2yrs. Is it worth spending the extra cash on a 500gb?
Thanks once again for all your help...my friend is also going to put me something in that means we can watch on our tv upstairs, so all is good!
  • Please can you tell me what the diference is betwen the following two models which I have seen on Amazon...
HUMAX FOXSAT HDR FREESAT SATELLITE PVR (500GB) (£269.00) & a
500GB Humax Foxsat HD PVR HD-R Freesat receiver with Built in Hard Drive for Pause, Rewind, and Record Live TV. (£295).
    Am I completely thick?

Please can you post the Amazon links for the two models referred to? Appears to be the same model?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I have never posted a link before so here goes......
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Foxsat-Freesat-receiver-Rewind-Record/dp/B0038KDDBC/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_1

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/FOXSAT-FREESAT-SATELLITE-PVR-500GB/dp/B0039J42LM/ref=pd_rhf_p_t_2

i think they could be the same but sold by different retailers the top one is £269 and the other £295.

Is this the machine that you would recommend, if so I will check out the price on other sites, do you think it is worth the difference between 320gb & 5oogb.
I want to watch & record satelite (although gutted will loose Dave!) & Iplayer, watch HD tv and record programmes.
Thank you once again for all your time and effort. As you can tell this is al new to me and I don't want to make the wrong decision or be stitched up by over paying! and I DON'T WANT TO SPEND A FORTUNE AND IT BE OUT OF DATE BY THE WEEKEND!!
    Cheers

It's the same product. Richer Sounds have the 320GB for £220 though. Capacity depends onhow much stuff you want to store and in what format (HD use more memory than SD). If you need to archive whole series on a semi-permanent basis then a DVD recorder is the better solution. But for everyday record/pause/playback a PVR is the right choice.
I have a 320GB drive on my Hummy PVR and I've never managed to fill more than 60% of the drive.
To stream iPlayer you will need a reasonably fast broadband connection (2-3Mbps?) and need to set up a network between your router and your TV: iPlayer comes via broadband, not via the Freesat feed.

Why do you think that you'll lose Dave?

From your original post "our telly is only a year old so we get freeview channels" - that is not going to change; you'll still be able to watch Freeview channels, like Dave, through the TV tuner (although not record them), as well as Freesat channels, through the Freesat tuner of the Humax.
  • Cool, I just thought freesat would over-ride freeview, and I was told that Dave was not on freesat but obviously from what you are saying they work hand in hand...I LOVE DAVE!
Thanks again for all your efforts, just need to decide on a 320 or 500, but from what you have said I think a 320 will do. Will check out Richersounds as well, have tesco vouchers to double up but they won't let you spend them on these, which is a bit pants.
    Thanks once again.

Dave is not on Freesat, but as advised above, you will still get all the Freeview chanels as long as you still have a Freeeview tuner on your TV and an aerial connected. You just change the AV input from TV to Humax as required to access the required platform.
