hi,

i have had elves stay for the past 4yrs. do as much or as little as you want to, and to a level your kids will understand.

choose your elfs name - some have 1st names, some 1st and surname, again your choice.

then you need a passport for it. and a letter from santa explaining who the elf is and that he thinks your son/daughter has behaved well enough to have a magical elf (or whatever you wish to put in letter). and something for it to sleep in (build bear sleeping bag/foot of old stocking etc)

THEN you need a plan of action....

.....when do you want the elf to arrive? 1st dec, half way through or only for 1week?

.....then you need to think will it just sit and watch the kids and make notes or will it do mischief?

.....depending on how long its coming for and what you want it to do (point 2) depends on what you need to think of doing and what you need (craft supplies, items to help with mischief (eg school - book bags and ties), sweets n treats for kids.

.....once you no all this your pretty much ready to go and have fun!

come back here and ask for help/advice and to swap ideas and stories and places selling cheap "supplies" etc.

Me thinks I need to get my "thinking cap" on..............
  • *****special thing i read about****

    hi,

i was reading a blog a few days ago linked to elves in america, and the "paren" (i'm assuming) had posted about another tradition she had started linked to the elves 3yrs ago. she bought a small xmas tree with a small bit of tinsel, now every year when the elves arrive on dec 1st they bring a small ornament (think mobile phone charm/dangle earring size) and have the year written on the back in permant marker.

i thought it was a really nice idea. only just found my notes on it, so thought would let you no.

if anyone needs a passport making, i am willing to make them like i did last year, as people had problems editing them from organised holiday site and same when i sent them mine to edit. but please let me know sooner rather than later as i dont want to be rushing around 2-3days b4 elves are due to arrive.

send me via PM a photo of your elf, your elfs name (1st and last, if no last name it will go as ....... Elf), its date of birth, male or female. if you have a prefered place of birth please state that as well or it will go as santas workshop north pole. and lastly your email address so i can send it back to you to print out.

please be aware i can only do these of evenings and during day when kids are at school. please send photos to amylackey@freeola.net

i cant do passports without all of this info.

  • hey amy, I really like the idea of the elves bringing ornaments for the tree that they bring with them. :) I will have to look into that later, currently planning my halloween tree (figure might as well drive dd completely over the edge eh? :) ) of course, the craft stores make it super easy... they all have halloween ornaments... I think an elf (or several at the rate I collect them) may have to appear in a ghost costume or something....
