thanks everyone, it is driving me mad being in a hotel with 3 kids and trying to function normally with school and bedtimes etc. hopefully we will be back the 1st week of december but not sure.


my boys got really upset the night b4 last as they said the elves wont be able to come and visit.....well i sent them an email from elf account saying that bertie (our 1st elf) will come and visit them no matter where we are - even if itsthe hotel, but he may only be able to stay for a few days and he will be on his own. they seemed happier after getting it.

AND i had sooooo much planned for this year, including the mini army fort OH had made (almost like the kids big play one) and mini army outfits to go with it! making cookies in kitchen with a giant millies cookie! oh well they will keep for next year if we not in house. will just have to see what i can do for a few days visit.



IF anyone has any ideas as to what bertie can do IF we in a hotel please add, i dont have full internet for long but i am managing to nip on here n there.

Amy, have a chat with the hotel manager. I am sure that they would love to help you and Bertie get up to all sorts of mischief. Even the grumpiest of bu**ers seem to love making the kids laugh.

I will think up some hotel based ideas for you. I need a few answers though......
do you have an en suite, mini bar, kettle, room service, phone in room, dvd player, satelite tv ????

If you have ensuite;
1. put shower cap /mini bottles around elf having shower or bath.
2. toilet - change colour of toilet water with toilet block.
3. Empty bathroom bin all over the place.
If you have mini bar........
1.Bertie can eat drink stuff from it.
2. Fill it with some of kids fav treats.
Kettle
Get some xmas mugs and set them up with instant hot choc and marshmallows for kids to make.
Room service
Order some room service in advance and get waiter to say it was ordered by Bertie.
Drop off treats etc at Reception and get them delivered to room - you could even get them to bring up a mini xmas tree/decs etc
Phone
Have Bertie phoning his mates in the North Pole -pretend you have to pay big hotel phone bill!!! if no phone use mobile.
Dvd player -get some xmas dvds in for Bertie et al to watch
Satelite tv -Put Bliss Christmas music on for when the kids come in from school etc
Leave envelopes at Reception for children/Bertie/etc
Do you want us to send cards to new addy etc????

Hello, I know Amy has complied a list for us on the first page for the elves, but I was wondering if anyone had any new ideas for their elves that have already been through quite a few of those provided. This year instead of our normal elf JJ Jingles coming to visit, we are having his three nephews instead. Triple the amount of fun! lol

We found some silly string in one of our local pound shop in red and green colour so looks like they are going to use it in the kids room. Also bought some red hair colour spray and some green hair colour spray because one night the elves are going to spray my hair green and my husband's red so we can look more Christmassy while we are sleeping. lol Also got some snow spray and will be writing the elves names on the kids bedroom windows to say they had been in there and maybe spray a few snowflakes on the windows too. Also Tesco a while back had their ready made sugarpaste icing on sale and it has four colours in there, red, green, yellow and blue and I thought the elves could roll these out and pehaps cut out and start decorating with a Christmas theme of course and get the kids to do it as well. We will also do the making and decorating of our yearly sugar cookies with them as well.

Just thought I'd throw a few more ideas out there for everyone as December is fast approaching!

I have been reading through this and i AM SO EXCITED to introduce ELF this year, i think its a fab idea great to keep the christmas spirit and more excitement.
My daughter is 6 i think she will be so excited with this, i think also will encourage good behaviour for the month too knowing we've got an elf !! woohoo roll on 1st dec !!!! Vic x

Amy sorry to hear about your house glad you are all safe

My elf is arriving in the morning last night I put the elf on the shelf in the kids book box wrapped up with a note saying please read this before your elf arrives they were soo exited, they looked this morning to see if he had arrived and my daughter has taken the book to school to show her teacher got a huge list of crazy antics cant wait!!

Thanks NanaElf for some fantastic ideas. I am so going to do the elves packing the kids lunch one and will definately make it an all out Christmas theme with a little note in there from the elf as well so they know for sure who did it!

we have 2 rooms between the 5 of us. each room has own bathroom. got kettle n mugs n coffee/tea, got tv with freeview (limited channels) and thats it!

as soon as i know more regarding timescale we be there i will post regarding xmas cards. as i dont want to say yes and then we are back in our house. HOWEVER we can still get in our house and are nipping in daily to feed fish as couldnt re-locate them!


we do have the wii with us and i have the wii merry xmas game, got a few crafty bits that dont use paint like hand puppets and xmas hats and a "paint a poster" kit BUT going to get pencils for em to use. also got a mini "blow snowball pea-shooter" game that wont do damage to hotel
