according to a shelter report referenced in this article 2.8 million brits are delaying parenthood due to high housing costs. possibly not a bad thing in terms of population checks. however it's likely to skew the population growth to favour either the wealthy or those on welfare with access to social housing.
as a self employed person my personal situation is the costs of having children have contributed significantly to my decision not to have them. i think i'm probably not alone.

We delayed having children until we were more financially secure.
Now we have one and another on the way.
I also delayed getting married until we lived together for a while.
We also delayed getting married until we bought with the conseideration was that the priority to purchase a home was higher than using the finances to get married.
I think it is good to ensure that you have a good financial footing.
The question is though, does the majority delaying become parents strive towards that goal or are they being fivelous with their current finances?:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.

The two most expensive things in life are (a) A divorce, and (b) children. I owe my wealth to having avoided both.0

The fact that people are delaying (and indeed not having) children due to the cost of housing is a very very sad indictment of the state of this country, and our society.0

Or possibly a sign of increased personal responsibility.0
