The soil pipe isn't being moved though is it? Otherwise it would say that in big capitals with a hefty price tag beside it probably underlined in red & with three zeros following it.

As for plastering. It will be boarded as an empty shell by a labour who can dot & dab. Then skimmed by a pro (hopefully).

The quote states "Supply and fit piping for new layout" Unless the soil pipe moves itself I'd assume that's included.

Quote also states plastering as opposed to dry lining. In a room of that size you couldn't afford to lose the extra 2 inches from dry lining it all the way around.

Also you shouldn't really dot n dab if you're tiling over it, you'll fall foul for the weight limits required for substrates under British Standards.
  • Personally I think thats a rip off. I have just fitted a whole new bathroom suite in my house myself. This involved getting all wall paper off, removing old tiles, removing old suite, purchasing new suite, fitting it - wasnt easy as I had to move the bath waste, redo plumbing for bath taps and sink taps - build a box for the toilet to go on as waste pipe was too high. Then, buy tiles, fit tiles, grout, paint rest of bathroom and fit a shower screen.

This whole lot has taken me 3 days to do from start to finish. Cost currently comes in at less than £500. The bath is also a massive P shape bath.

In addition to the £500, I have a thermostatic shower I need to fit (£70) and a nice big chrome towel rail (about £70 i think), and I need to put some flooring down (probably vinyal tiles)(dunno how much yet). But, I think this will all take me another 2 days to finish.

Bare in mind, this is just myself on my own doing the work and im really really taking my time over things such as the tiling to ensure its perfect. A professional would whizz through it.

As a comparison, my mates just had his bathroom done by professionals - incl seperate walk in shower, downlights, big bath, fancy boxed in toilet & basin, tiled floor etc.. and its cost him £8000 all in.

Why do you assume the soil vent pipe is moving?

    What a funny conclusion.

All over the country there are tiled boards.

Again, also funny assumption that they are plastering & tiling the whole bathroom. But again tiling is being charged at £40 per sq metre in addition to the quote.
    Not Again
  • we are having a new bathroom suite fitted, the toilet waste stays where it is, the bath and sink are to be moved and a new shower and cubicle is to be fitted and we are being charged £500.
no tiling or other building work will be done by the plumber

I've just had a new bathroom suite fitted (no tiling). It took the plumber 2 full days and he charged me £250 labour for installation and has done a brilliant job (no corners cut like many I know)
