V5 & previous owners query
after a bit of advice please folks
have recently bought a new second hand car, was an x motability car
now I'm pretty certain when I bought the car, from a leading car supermarket it was advertised as 1 previous owner (the mileage is very low as well)
however I have just got the V5 from the DVLA
on this they state the previous owner as xxxxxxx
but next to this it states, no of former keepers as "4"
for a car first registered in Feb 2009, with only 4k on the clock, sounds a bit odd to me
anyone shed any light on what this could be
thanks

not exactly, to be honest I never saw it
had to phone up the well known car supermarket several weeks after the purchase as I had not received it from the DVLA
pretty certain though the car was advertised as 1 previous owner
was also informed they get a lot of x motability cars0 -
You could always pay dvla a couple of quid for a list of the previous owners.Never Knowingly Understood.

Thanks, looks like I'll be giving the DVLA a call tomorrow
seems odd a car that that was first registered in Feb 2009 has had 4 previous owners, when there was only 3,300 on the clock
I'm now thinking the car supermarket may be classed as a previous owner0 -
It is strange that a Feb 2009 motobility car was up for sale. The deal is normally for 3 years. Perhaps the motobility claimant could not drive and several people in the family were nominated as owners?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

A lot of people get motablity cars and then lose their allowance and therefore the car.
Technically there was only one owner, Motability, the rest are registered keepers.
Though from what I have seen and been told when you have a motability car you don't get a logbook, I base this on the fact that when I have owned ex motability cars they all have motability on the logbook.
It is also possible that a scam was perpetrated on this car, with somebody told they would have to return it, they then applied for a logbook on a different address, then the logbook was changed from one person to anopther to stay ahead of the people trying to get the car back.
Personally I would try to find out who owned it and send them a letter asking why they sold the car, though something seems fishy.
Why not write a letter to Motability themselves, perhaps on the premise that you have not got the service record and could they send a printout/0 -

thanks for the advice,
just to update you all, I phoned the DVLA, who basically said fill in this form pay the money and they will reveal who the previous owners where, thanks for your helpful assistance DVLA
now I have checked my paperwork, like I said earlier I have been reliably informed this was an ex motability car, anyway I have found the HPI details I was given when I bought the car, now taking into account, this is dated the actual time (and date) I bought the car, it states "1" previous owner, which makes sense bearing in mind what I was told eg. x motability car
anyway when I purchased the car I was told something about the car supermarket would send off the v5 to the DVLA to go through the process etc
so between me picking the car up and the V5 arriving on my mat 2 previous owners have appeared on my V5
any explanations
I'll be phoning the car supermarket (a nationwide well known name) next week0 -
So, where did the "number of former keepers = 4", in your original post come from?
Confusing eh?
not sure what your trying to say there,
but my V5 states on it 4 previous owners, this is my query, from agreeing to buy the car I was informed the following it was an x motability car & it has only 1 previous owner
yet the V5 beside listing the previous owner as XXXXXXX XXXXXX of XXXXXX it also states previous keepers as 4
the previous keepers listed as 4 is the puzzling bit, even more puzzling is the fact that the HPI states 1 previous owner, this (the HPI) is dated as the day I bought the car
confused !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
