I love these hamper ideas. I have got nieces and nephews aged between 3 and 7 and was just wondering what ideas you would have for hampers for this age group.0

I think it will be perfect for MIL. I will quiz hubby tonight on her favourite foods, will buy her a couple of books from charity shops (she loves to read) and make her a hamper full of her favourite things. She isn't the type for smellies and such so will have to stick to food and other things.
I love the look of those martha steward ice cube soaps, they look fantastic!

Thats what I am doing for my mither in law and getting her a nice teapot with different teabags as she doesn't do smellies.0 -

Some free kids' audiobooks (from librivox) burnt to CD
Some 3d model sheets from http://cp.c-ij.com/english/3D-papercraft or http://papertoys.com/, print and put in a box with scissors and glue.
A christmas (or other theme) game(bingo, dominoes or pairs) print onto card and laminate.
Maybe you could also include some printed out colouring pages/worksheets (many sites have free christmas/ and non-christmas kids printables)
(free is in quotes because you still must pay for paper, ink and cd)
Whatever you put in, toys, games, crafts, books using a reusable box is good (try a re-sealable container meant for food), especially if you give lots of little things, so the items don't get scattered all around the house (which wouldn't make you very popular with the 'rents), maybe could put a label on the box like "'Nephew/nieces name' christmas holiday boredom busting box" or whatever (relevant to what's in there) kids like to have their names on things.0 -
Well after reading all of these posts I have now decided to make people hampers for Christmas. I already have the cellophane which was bought from IKEA two years ago in the sale...I always knew I'd need that for something! I'm going to do some Hot Chocolate hampers. Last Christmas I bought Christmas mugs for people at 50p a pop. I went to RockBottom Warehouse today and bought 3 baskets for £1. I already have some crepe paper and tissue paper to go in the bottom of the baskets. I have also just bought a soap making kit which I will be using next weekend hopefully (if it arrives) to include little Christmas soaps in the hampers (using ice maker trays from IKEA). All I need to do is get some of those chocolate drink sachets, liked the idea of the chocolate spoons and I also thought I'd melt some cheap chocolate, put in to moulds and wrap those aswell. Oh the ideas are endless on this site!
Think I will do a soap/bath bomb hamper for MIL. Any ideas for that? Already going to make the soap, have some bath bombs in the back of the cupboard...anything else I need?:xmassign:Baby Bump born 4th March 2010! :kisses:

Ooooh for anyone who wants to spend that little bit extra.
if you have an au naturel near you, they have these big mugs for hot chocolate there, and they have a hole in the handle that fits a spoon into it, it comes with a gorgeous pot spoon as well, they are £3 each, but on BOGOF so £1.50 each :jWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
Does anyone know if regular soap can be melted down to be re-moulded? My sisters can only use Dove, everything else gives them a rash.0

I'm really inspired by all of this - but so far all the recipes I seem to see say they keep for 2 months - how have you all done yours? Things like the chocolate coated spoons for example - doesn't the chocolate go white after a while? Same with the truffles?Debts @ lightbulb moment (13/06/2006) - £59,842.23  All commercial debts now clear!!! :T Debts April - £20,000 to family (incl extra £10k borrowed for house deposit). DFD - Aug 2014
Proud to be dealing with my debts
Goal of the month - £500 on groceries for family of 5 - Apr 2011 - £620!May - £454.85 so far.

apparently chocolate "bloom" the white stuff, only occurs if the chocolate has been over heated.not if it's been opened or one off, HTH0
