    Congratulations Pooky

Hugs to all those who are ill and stressed - hope everyone feels better tomorrow.

Technology subjects (particularly at GCSE) are becoming more and more about productive design and development, all the planning and research and evaluation and much much less about actually making the product (be it cooking something, making a dress, something out of wood/plastic/metal etc, electronics or graphics) - so pupils don't learn the skills of making something - more the evaluation skills. Lots of them will have a beautiful folder at the end of it but can barely sew/cook etc.

Anyway today I worked for 5 hours stuffing envelopes and adding people to a database as there's a university open day coming up soon, got more work tomorrow and should hopefully get at least some in the next couple of weeks while I'm waiting for my supply stuff to get sorted.

Posted some stuff I've sold online off today - the money from that and the car boot should buy the furniture we need for our new place so that's great - Ikea here we come!

Didn't feel well so I've had a little sleep too :o but then we made a chicken and pasta bake from stratch - very proud of ourselves I know it's silly but it's one of the first things I've made totally from stratch for ages - and enough for OH to have for lunch tomorrow too.

Just off to Tescos now to get a few bits then we need to get our bed stripped and hoovered and the stuff washed. OH did his old bed clothes earlier today and dressing gowns now dry. Hopefully we'll be ok for our move - day after tomorrow now

  • Hi. I'm shattered at the end of my day.
Read Penny Pinchers post at start of my day and I can say I know how she feels. I have the flu at mo (and coz I'm male it's 10 times worse than anyone else gets it....it is, so don't argue!).
Tried to get on with my daily chores around home but just ran out of energy and crashed out. Sitting here now with big glass of rum - don't panic!!!! it's cheap stuff from LIDLs.
I normally only read the post on here, but today I thought I would try and join in.
DD is off to bed in a bit and OH is watching 'How clean is your house'. Sure she's gonna have some tips for me when I go back downstairs, more white vinegar to clean...errr...everything....our house smells wonderful!.
I notice a few people are doing there own pizza's. I'm gonna give it a go later in the week. Shall I freeze spare with or without sauce on base?
Anyway that is a trivial question I will post at another time. I may not post much, but I do read through them all everyday. You lot are inspirational!!! :T
    Keep up the great work.

  • Thank you so much TM, my first smile of the day. Don't know what I would do without the support of OS.. my chin is back up.. my family is healthy so I already have the world anything else is an added bonus! :j
  • Good on ya Girlpower :D

At the end of the day, the cleaning and stuff can wait. In fact, I decided today to join in with DS2 when he wanted to listen to his Bob the Builder CD. Imagine, if you will a demented erm, 30+ year old, bopping around singing Bob's version of Mambo No 5, whilst showing a bouncy 3yo how to do aerobic movements in time to the music, whilst also washing down paintwork. AND this was in my front room, and we don't do nets around here :D Heck, I didn't finish cleaning the dining room, but I had a good workout and I enjoyed myself with DS2, which is far more important.

Life is too short - and I will enjoy what I can when I can (although if I could find a magic fairy to clean the house, then life would surely be perfick:))
