I find some of your comments rather insulting to be honest as some of my family and friends are Turkish. I have to say of all the Turkish people I have met; family, friends, neighbours when I lived there etc. I have always foudnt ehm very friendly and polite - unlike you.

To the OP - Marmaris is a bit Brits abroad and so is Kusadasi really. Have you considered the Bodrum Peninsula? It is lovely there.

All three places you enquire about are typical 'brits abroad' places. If that is what you like then go for it.

Those basing their opinions of Turkey and the Turkish based on any of the above three Turkish resorts are making a poor judgement on the rest of Turkey and the Turkish people. That is like visiting a tacky place in the UK and claiming ALL Brits are of that ilk.

Interestingly recently went to a greek island and had the menu's shoved under nose routine - as it was a coastal resort aimed at foreign tourists.

i would choose greece over turkey. kusadasi is the worst resort to go to the sea and beaches are not that clean.Istanbul though is great.

Again, depends WHERE you go in Turkey. Not all parts of Turkey are like this and not all tourist places are like this.

I was a holiday rep in Turkey, so often travelled to Kos and samos.

Plus my parents are Cypriots, so we have grown up with Greek Cypriots, we have never ever had any problems with Greek people.

thanks for the comments all.. I had no replies the last time I looked and forgot about this thread :)

well we went for marmaris.. wouldn't have been a first choice for me really but as I mentioned in my OP finances and using tesco vouchers narrowed down the choice unfortunately.. we dont do clubbing and have seen a few trips etc that would make it an ok base for us.. going on the 26th so doing some last minute research and found this again!

ephesus, pamukkale and rhodes are on my list to definately do.. not sure about mud baths etc!

have been to egypt twice so am well used to being hassled as soon as you put a toe out the hotel door! ;)

    Hi

I have been to several Greek Islands but we went to Turkey for the first time last year and we stayed at Side. We loved it. Every resort resembles Blackpool at some point but Side has many other sides such as History, scenery and great food. Id recommend it.
