Oh well, could go either way. But their £200 per year standing charge makes it a moot question for me as that makes them too expensive (even with £180 off.)

So it sounds as though they will set the DD payments high enough so as not to use up the £100 so that if you do leave it can be taken back. It will be interesting now to see exactly what they do with my DDs.

Mine have been set low. :j That may not suit eveyone, but I quite like having the money in my account rather than theirs and this should effectively bank my bonus.:D

Nah, it worked out cheapest for me with the standing charge offsetting the tier 1, tier 2 malarkey.

Yes it is high isn't it. I was with OVO previously who had an even higher standing charge but their latest price increase swapped this around completely. The SC dropped dramatically and the unit price rocketed especially on Gas.

As a high gas user, this has driven me to change.

I am currently with scottish power for my dual-fuel and it is only £60 per month for both - standard online tariff. I would say it will rise to about £80 a month over the winter, looking at EDF is looks like they cost more than scottish power but then again I saw the news about SSE? are they the same company as scottish power?

I cant decide whether to change to EDF with the quidco cashback and credit it seems quite good, but which tariff is going to be the best in the long run. I also intend on moving out within the next year of this accommodation so would I have to pay the £60 - the bills would still come here in the landlords name - I would just update the name on the account.

Can anyone help with my questions

No you should not have to pay an exit penalty if the contract is ended as a result of you moving house.

Does this standing charge get taken into account when doing quotes on places like Energy Helpline? I've done one on there and uSwitch using my fuel consumption rather than current cost (roughly 12200kWh for Gas and 2700 kWh for Electric a year) and it comes back with E'On being £672 a year and EDF being £700 a year but you get the £100 bonus on that, making it £600 in effect.

The one thing that confuses is me is how uSwitch come to their usage figures. For EDF I get the following:

Payment method: Fixed Monthly Direct Debit
    Estimated cost of gas: £397.18
    Estimated cost of electricity £302.96
Based on a consumption of 12200kWh for gas and 2700kWh for electricity.

    E'On's come to the following:

Payment method: Fixed Monthly Direct Debit
    Estimated cost of gas: £377.87
    Estimated cost of electricity £294.55
Based on a consumption of 12200kWh for gas and 2700kWh for electricity.

    Are these figures reliable?

Thanks for the help, I think I will stick with scottish power for now :)
