Total gibberish to me.Anyone have the definitive answer, maybe 'directement de la bouche des chevaux'?
:rotfl:I agree. That's why I have written to them querying it.
I wrote in German though oops.0 -
LOL. They will probably just forward it on to E.on
. Seriously, please let us know what they say :T

"As Kim Yeovil hasn't come back on the point she raised about the £100 bonus" "Say something once, why say it again? I'm a psycho-kill..." oh, wait, hang on. That's not a very sensible defence, is it?:)
As far as I can see the intention is that the £100 is only redeemable and honoured if you stay the whole term - they credit it to your account immediately so that your monthly payments reflect a true estimated cost. If you jump ship credit is revoked.0 -
I've had no response to my query about it yet. If everyone else emails them about it maybe they'll get the idea that it's unclear and confusing.0

Kim,
To be so unequovical in your advice I presume you have checked this out with EDF?
Is that right or is it just your interpretation of the wording?0 -
I reread the ts and cs on the front page of EDF. The intent seems entirely obvious and any attempt to read it otherwise is just wishful thinking (or, rather, mischievous loop-hole mining). No, I have not checked with EDF. I did not read any ambiguity in condition 7.0

Just spoken to EDF. The agent didn't know and he didn't have the Terms and Conditions of the Welcome Bonus. He asked his Manager and while they thought it wouldn't have to be repaid if a customer left, they weren't entirely sure !!
They said they would be referring it to their Legal Team and would copy me back in the response.
I explained the confusion caused by the ambiguous wording and said it was a debate on this forum, so it was important to get it right.
He then said he was going home, so the answer would be tomorrow.:eek:0 -

Just used their live chat facility. Here is the transcript:
Welcome to EDF Energy's Live Chat Service. We'll be with you in a moment. Just so you know, this Live Chat will be recorded for training and monitoring purposes. Thanks for waiting.
You are now connected with Karen.
Karen: Hello, how can I help you?
: I am interested in switching to EDF
Karen: That's great, what can I do to help?
: The £100 bonus. If I leave EDF before 31/12/2011 do i have to pay it back?
Karen: This may be a possibility, but it's not certain.
: I don't understand your answer? It either is or isn't repayable?
Karen: In the terms and conditions there is nothing to say that the bonus is repayable,
: What about Condition 7 of the Welcome bonus leaflet?
Karen: Conditions 7 says...
Karen: Only a maximum of £100 goodwill credit per customer is permitted. This offer may not be used in conjunction with any other offer from EDF Energy. No cash alternative is available and the offer may not be transferred. The goodwill credit for this Welcome Bonus is not redeemable or refundable if the customer subsequently changes supplier before the end of tariff period.
: I know what it says. I don't understand the wording. It's ambigous.
Karen: From the way I interpret this, it means we will not ask for the amount to be paid back.
: I would interpret it the same BUT others interpret it the opposite.
: I am trying to get a definitive answer
Karen: I can assure you that the information I have given you is the correct interpretation
Karen: It is worth noting that if you left EDF Energy,
Karen: and the Welcome Bonus was still a credit on your account
Karen: then this credit would not be refunded as cash.
: ok Good. Why did you say before 'This may be a possibility, but it's not certain.'
Karen: I apologise for that, however, I needed to check the information and confirm with one of my colleague to ensure the information was correct.
: so is this colleague a Senior Manager?
Karen: Yes.
: May I have their name and position, please?
Karen: yes of course, his name is Will Chidlow, and he is the Manager of the Live Chat Team.
: Sorry to press you.He is qualified to give a definitive answer to this query?
Karen: Yes he is.
: Thank you for your help.
Karen: You're welcome
Karen: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
: No that's fine thanks.0 -
If this is right, and we will see what the legal team say tomorrow, then the downside is if you build up a big credit. In those circumstances, they seem to be saying they would hold onto that part which came from the Goodwill payment.
How they would work it out is another set of questions....:rotfl:0
