£260 a Year To Keep My Hair Looking Nice!!!

I used to go to a salon that a friend owned and she charged me £20 for a cut and blow every 6 weeks. I felt obliged to leave a decent tip too. Now I have a mobile hairdresser come to the house every 6 weeks and she charges me £12. I don't tend to tip her as it is my electric etc that she uses but I do give a nice present at christmas.

I have it cut every six weeks for £22 locally and every seven or eight weeks I have a colour and highlights for £25 at the hairdressing school of a very posh salon. The hairdressing school is very good but I don't trust them to cut my hair because it's quite short. Then on top of that is shampoo and conditioner which does add up but I don't use any other styling products.

I've been growing mine for about 2 years becasue I just got fed up with the cost. I got it cut in July and it cost me £28!!!!! bearing in mind that really it just needed trimming to get rid of some of the layers.
THink I'll have to wait another year before I go back at this rate. Imaging if I went every 6 weeks - phew.

My husband cuts mine

It's longish and straight so I showed im how to section it and cut it properly.

I cut hubby's hair and the children's hair. I've got some proper hairdressing scissors and some Wahl clippers so I paid out about £60 at first but none of us have used a hairdresser in the past two years saving us a few hundred pounds.

Well be happy that you do not have black afro style hair - I pay £60 every 3 months to relax (or straighten) my hair, £18 every 2/3 weeks to blow dry it, or £50 to colour and blow dry. I am not keeping tabs on how much I spend on products, esp. ones that I buy and hardly use, (because I am sold on the advertising that this one product will do something that all the others haven't) ... and lets not get on to the subject of GHD straighteners.....

I don't have to pay out much, my sis is a hairdresser so she trims it and I give her a fiver (which she always refuses to take but I make her!) and I get two colours out of one box of colourant by just mixing half the mixture, absolutly fine for my not-so-thick shoulder length hair.

I spend quite abit on shampoo & conditioner & something to tame it though.

My friends daughter cut and colours mine every 3 or 4 months at a cost of £40 and inbetween times I trim my own fringe.

scarily, the most I've spent is £300 on one treatment to have it straightened :eek: not anymore!! I'm a slave to the frizz now and cheap shop remedies, and hubby did a lush colour at the weekend - would have been £4, but got it on my Boots points ... what a change!

agree about the college - you can book at different levels / experiences at our college so if you're having chemicals or have funny hair (ie: straightened before like I had!) then you can rest a bit easier that you're getting a nearly qualified hairdresser :cool:

I'm scared now ... I pay £125 every six weeks for cut and colour ... daren't even add it up for the annual cost!
