£260 a Year To Keep My Hair Looking Nice!!!

I have just worked out that it costs me roughly £260 a year to keep my hair cut and coloured every 6 weeks. I know I am fortunate to have a family hairdresser who comes to the house and does not over charge, but not everyone has this and have to go to salons etc.
And the £260 does not include extras like shampoo/conditiner and hairspray etc!
How much do you pay to get your hair done?

I pay £18 and tip a couple of pounds. The girl that cuts my hair trained and worked in a top salon, then moved to her aunties salon - I followed her there and cut my costs in half!
I know that in my old hometown, all hairdressers train at the local college, so even the cheapest of hairdressers have the same experience as the dearest.
I dread going grey - the thought of paying for dying my hair on top of haircuts....Are we still waiting to sing as hummingbirds?0 -

£18 is just for a cut then? I pay £25/£30 for cut and highlights0 -
yes, just a cut, real bargain! i'm lucky my hair is just long and doesn't need proper styling, otherwise i'd have to go more often! Are we still waiting to sing as hummingbirds?0

I used to pay £40 for a cut, and £75 for cut and colour... I have now started going to the same place as my hubby, and she is superb! £15 for a cut...and do my colour at home...big saving and to be honest the haircut is just as good if not better! If you obey all the rules...you miss all the fun!! My family member has always done my hair and the thought of paying £75 to have what I get done in a salon... well I just wouldn't pay it. I could never affors too! :rotfl:0 -
I used to pay about £100 each time for cut and "design" colour.
I now just have the cut and use home colour. The one with the wand which I buy from Boots for about £7. Have had lots of compliments on the colour since and it doesn't fade nearly as quickly as the salon colour!
The only thing I miss is being given a pile of mags, peace and quiet and as many cups of tea as I wanted for almost three hours every six weeks - still even that not worth £100!!!!MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -
Goodness...so expensive!!! I am very lucky in that a friend of the family does mine at home. She charges just £10.00 for a cut and blow dry for the whole family - THAT'S £2.50 per head!!!! BARGAIN. I used to pay £20.00 per month just for me!!!0
