My last update on this subject is to let you know that I received a full repayment onto my Tesco Credit Card yesterday.
Thank you.

I had a call from these guys yesterday, they seem to be called Lifestyle Money these days but presumably it is the same mob. I had received a similar call from another of these outfits before and basically just said no thanks as I had never taken out PPI (I've had a lot of credit over the years, loans, credit cards etc but never taken PPI) but I listened a bit longer to these guys as they said something that pricked my interest. They claim that even people who refused PPI were sometimes charged it anyway and that such payments were wrapped up in the interest rates that were charged and would not have been obvious on the statement. I thought that if that were true then it might be worth looking into as I had run some pretty big balances on credit cards over the years and had also had a few pretty meaningful loans too, they also seemed to get pretty excited when I mentioned that I had been a customer of Egg, Capital One and MBNA over the years; the worst offenders according to them
So after quite a lengthy discussion with the girl who initially called me I was passed on to a senior advisor (Joe Thomas if it makes any difference) and he gave me further spiel about how likely it was that I would get paid out due to the number of agreements and who they were with etc. Then right at the end of the call, in a very casual manner, almost in passing comes the mention of a £299 fee that would be refunded in 6 weeks if I hadn't already been paid out. The way that this was led up to was almost like a Derren Brown mind trick! They ask for the phone number off of the back of one debit and one credit card, just the customer service number, nothing personal to me so I gave that over. Then he asks for the full name on the card and casually then starts to ask for the long number across the middle...Cue alarm bells ringing!
So I said to the guy, let me be clear you are going to charge me £299 now? And he says yes we put it on your overdraft and you get it back if your claim isn't successful...Thankfully I told him that there wasn't enough room left on the overdraft to pay at that time and that he should call me back at the end of the week when I get paid. As well as being true, I also thought that it would give me time to go and do a bit of research on Lifestyle Money before parting with any cash as I was now very sceptical. I then found this place and as you might imagine, I won't be parting with any cash when I get the return call on Friday!
I realise that this post is very long winded but I wanted illustrate how it all worked. I have a very well paid job in the finance industry and whilst I am not Stephen Hawking I am reasonably sharp and yet almost fell for this BS so I can absolute understand how others have been sucked in. The way this is pitched is clever, false and possibly fraudulent by the looks of it but clever nonetheless...
Out of interest, I take it that even the banks and credit card companies weren't quite dishonest enough to charge PPI without asking and actually wrap it up in an interest payment as these guys suggested that they had? If they were then I shall pursue this under my own steam but from what I have read here and elsewhere even they weren't that dishonest/stupid?0 -
No, they can't hide PPI. It's in black and white on statements, or on loan agreements.
You see how they sucker people in?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Their claim is complete BS.I have a very well paid job in the finance industry and whilst I am not Stephen Hawking I am reasonably sharp
And you should therefore know already that their claim is complete BS.
They just want your fee.
Don't just post on here, report the conversation you have had, in similar detail, to the Claims Regulation unit at the Ministry of Justice. It is the only way that fraudsters such as this will get shut down unfortunately.0 -

I feel so stupid and crushed right now that i trusted them .I have no idea what to do now, because i have a feeling that they dont refund my money back.3months ago I paid up front fee £359 ,because they told me that they could get 3000-3500 from miss sold PPI. After 4 weeks they contacted me and said that I have to pay 599.99 and that speed up my process , but they have mentioned that these 599.99 money will be included in 30% that they usually take when the case is successful .So i dont have o pay them when they win that case.
So now they took from me 958.99 and I didnt heard anything from them for 2 months.I dont know what to do now, that a bid money an my situation at this time is very bad .I need money to pay of mortgage and all the bills. And now im paying minimum amount of money which are £40 every month for credit card and i dont even paying back is just the percentage .Please help me0 -
Eva - please report it as fraudulent to your credit card provider and ask for your money back
Also report it to consumer@claimsregulation.gov.uk0 -
I was contacted by this company virtually every day for months. I have card debt but no PPI as I had it on my very first mortgage in the 1980's and was told I couldnt claim due to a medical condition when I tried to claim after being ill. They reeled me in and then at the very last minute mentioned an up front fee I told them my credit card was maxed out ( untrue) and i was in my overdraft (true) so I couldnt afford to pay up front and that was the end of their call. They called again today and lowered the up fron fee because ' they really want to help me get some money and their is money in it for them to pursuit my claim'. today they had a different tack they game me thier company registration number CRM16588 and told me to go to web on claimsregulation which is the government body who regulates. This site immediately flashed up a warning saying not to pay PPI claims companies money up front . The sales person said I should ignore this as this notice was for foreign companies only ( rubbish) he then game me their companies own website address and pointed out that Experian and other companies named at the bottom of their website endorse them ( probably rubbish as well). I had already hung up on the guy earlier for trying to get my card info in a sneaky way and looked at this forum in the meantime knowing they'd call back, so I asked the maximum processing time of my claim...90 days.... ok then what about all the unhappy people who have posted on this forum who have called and waited longer than 90 days to get their up front fee back ?? Oh well some claims take longer... erm excuse me so what was the 90 day maximum answer all about then. I asked why they ask for payment up front and others don't to be told they used to do that then do the work and not get paid plus other companies charge hidden fees make of that what you will. I asked what they do that I cant do myself to be told I would get less back if I pursued the claim direct and they have an 18 step plan they follow to get your money. I reminded him that from what their website says they deal with I didn't have any claim that fell into their catagories to which he admitted that if there was no PPI claim involved they were possibly not the right company to deal with me ( despite me explaining this months earlier ),so I said I would not be dealing with them , and my advice is to anyone don't pay money to anyone without doing your own research first !!!0
