Hi+thanks for the answers! Ok, we are now on a 4 day week! At the start of the year we gave up 4 of our holidays to cover this Christmas period. This year 2 of those days happen to be fridays(that we now dont work). Our employer has told us that those 2 days holiday will be rolled over to next year. Is this fair being as we accrued said holidays during this current year? Shouldn't they be given back to us?
Depends on how many holidays you get for a 5day week that should be at least 28.
Now you are a 4 day week that will be 22.4(prorata for the holiday year).
The company looks like it is in trouble start looking for a new job.
What redundancy package have they offered remember that the statutory minimum will be less if you are on short time.0 -
Hi and thanks for your reply!
They have not mentioned redundancy as yet. This is what the letter says that we have had today:Not yet a total moneysaving expert...but im trying!!0 -
Sorry for the huge size!!
By the way, we only got 25 days this year and not the 28 you quoted?
Also, please can anyone explain the 'Guarantee payment for short time working' bit? I dont really understand what it means? Not yet a total moneysaving expert...but im trying!!0 -
Does the 25 include the bank holidays?
if not that adds another 8, and they can carry over the days.
If it does then they are short 3 days and also cannot carry over the days.
guarantee payment is an employment right payment for layoff and short working.
If you google this it will find a few references.
here is the one in the employment act
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1996/18/part/III
this one might be easier to understand.

If you are in a job where you would rather spend time in a lavatory than at your workstation....time to move on!0

A friend of mine had broken her arm & was in plaster. When she returned to her desk after a toilet break, her superviser pounched on her & demanded to know what took her so long....My friend replied "Have you ever tried changing a tampon with one hand"!!
Needless to say, he never challenged her again after that!"Hope for the Best
Prepare for the worst"0 -
Lucky she didn't have 2 broken arms :eek:0

They did this at my work. We all starting !!!!!!!! our pants in protest, they soon backtracked. My advice is to follow the same approach.0
