True MSE style is to sit near a window where you will see how plenty of other people habe let their money go on pretty patterns in the night sky = cost nil, enjoyment to children just the same, enjoyment to adults greater as it is warmer indoors.

    You have no idea *sigh*

Lol, I saw this last night! Havn't baught one though, can't see them honouring them all.

Anyone been to tesco? I heard they have their fireworks on sale today! Havn't saw any leaflets though, think its a Standard range.

I've traditionally bought fireworks from Sainsburys and using the BOGOF offers have found them reasonable fireworks at a reasonable cost. Two years ago, we bought our selection from Tesco, and putting it quite bluntly I've heard hedgehogs fart louder. A very disappointing selection, particularly the rockets as I paid a lot for what appeared to be a high-powered set but they were a bit of a non-event.

That was two years ago and I can't remember what brands/sets they were, and it may have all changed. But I won't buy fireworks from Tesco again.
  • Spent a lot of time looking for the best supermarket deal and found that Lidl (the old cosmic fireworks) were by far the best bang for the buck. Not sure what to do this year. The 100 shot from Morrisons was very short and sweet, not pretty by loud. I'm edging toward the Aldi pack as I prefer aerial fireworks. Please post if you try one before Halloween.

    Cheers
  • Just to let you all know that there is a voucher in todays Sunday Mirror for a free pack of rockets (RRP given as £29.99 but never worth this much) when you spend £14.99 on fireworks. Now a lot of their stuff isn't great but if you're still trying to make your mind up where to get your stuff from then it may be worth picking up a couple of bits. I went for two packs of the Neutron Boom (£24.99 BOGOF) as they were given the maximum bang rating and had a 25 metre warning on each rocket as well as a statement that they ommited 'bangs' as well as colours etc. lol - know this isn't an exact science and with not a great deal of choice this year I'm hoping they may be okay. Now to work out where to buy the rest from!!

Hope this info is of use to some of you figuring out where/what to buy!!

    They will be... Ok.

the Buy one get one free is nonsense. 9 single shot candles would normally sell for £12.99 at the very most.
so it isn't free its price doubled

they will be ok, but for 25 a fireworks shop could have sold you some little cakes they are single fuse multi shot, tend to be a bit better value for money.
  • No, same situation here. Spoke to Maroof (who sent the email) on the phone earler and he said he was sorting it out. Will call him back tomorrow and tell him I haven't had any refund and others also.

I can provide you with Latifs phone number (landline) and his extension number if you wish.

Just received my refund. Was hoping to place a new order with them but the site seems to be broken again (add to basket has been replaced with 'Contact Us'). Heh.. I'm wondering if and when it will be safe to place an order.. :S

Been told by a friend a week ago that B &M Bargins would not be selling fireworks this year, but ive now been told by my Nan that she thinks she saw fireworks instore on Friday. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, got the Tesco leaflet today, seems to be a much better range than previous years, with selection boxes and rocket packs 'any 3 for 16pound' They also have a half decent looking selection box for 10pounds including rockets, cakes, mines, roman candles and fountains!

Can't upload the leaflet sorry, as my Laptop has broke :(

We bought some fireworks yesterday (not for bonfire night, but something else).

We went to JTF and found some Bright Star make because we were told they are good. One thing to note is that they all seem to have Guy Fawkes on them because that is JTF's cover. But many of them are Bright Star; you just have to ask which ones.

We also asked for Men-Shun, but they said they've gone bust.

We didn't notice any great offers, but we're expecting good quality fireworks.
