I'll look out for your reply. I've just had a competition win transferred to me - obviously they hope you get both eyes done but as it was something I was thinking of anyway, why not? I'll go for the free consultation and do A LOT of reading up on th eproceedures and company before I make up my mind though....
I thought these prizes were non transferrable?0 -
I had my eyes done with Optimax 3 years ago.
I rang them just to enquire about prices and the girl on the phone thought I had read an offer somewhere so I quickly agreed with her and got a BOGOF
The consultation was more painful than the op. I really didn't feel a thing. In fact painful is the wrong word, mild discomfort would be better. I had 20/20 as soon as I got off the table!
It's not suitable for everyone though.Thank you to everyone that posts the competitions and answers :A0 -

Well, I went for the initial consulatation. Beforehand a £30 'refundable' fee was charged for me to secure the appointment. I was there almost 2 1/2 hours - most of this time waiting about. First for this 5-min eyetest, then wait about, then that 15-min eyetest, then wait about, and finally to see the Consultant. I was in with him less than 1/4 hour. I was fed up by this time.
Anyway, apparantly, as I have some astigmatism I'd need Epi-Lasik with Wavefront.
I needed time to think it over. But before I could say "Thanks, I may be in touch... " I was steered down to the Reception and the pushy Receptionist acted stunned when I said that "No, I was not interested in having it done that same day". "Why?" she uttered, "There is a space available this afternoon".
It was inconvenient - on top of anything else, I had to arrange childcare, etc. "And by the way, could I have the refundable £30 back". I quoted the reference that was in my 'Congratulations!' email to her, I didn't get it - she claimed to know nothing about it.
So I shall be sending off a copy of their email which stated 'the deposit was fully refundable on attendance' with a stiff letter of complaint.
I can only comment on my own experience with Optimax, I was unimpressed. I want my £30 back!0 -
Quick Update.
Have received my £30 back.0 -

I rang up and they happily transferred the prise to me. They are only after the cash for the 2nd eye anyway, thy don't care who it comes from! I booked a consultation, but made sure I would be refunded when I arrived. \they tried to put me in for the proceedure on the same day - I refused, and he seemed very surprised when I said I didn't want to rush into it and wanted to go away and think about it.I'll keep you informed....0 -
