Have I won laser eye surgery?

I had my eyes done with Optimax and highly recommend them. My prescription was -8 so was blind as a bat but after laser treatment I now have 20/20 vision. Mine was done 5 years ago and cost £1000 for both eyes done at the same time. They do not give everyone treatment though if you are not suitable. Both my Mum and a friend had a consultation and were both told their eyes were not able to have the laser treatment so they are not out to just take our money. I would go along, you have nothing to loose and even if you had to pay for one eye believe me it is so worthwhile being able o wake up in the morning and see clearlyCompetitions wins 2010

i need to keep my eye (gah, a pun!) out for these competitions, i just cant afford to get both my eyes done and waking up in the morning and seeing only occurs after a night on the sauce and consequent passing out with spectacles on, but even then its all a bit fuzzy :P
oh what life would be like to not have to realise my lenses are dirty!comping sporadically since 14.07.07

At Optimax your consultation is with your treating doctor. (At other companies you do not see a doctor at consultation). You will appreciate that doctors’ time is very expensive and to avoid people not attending we require a £60 deposit to secure your appointment. This is fully refundable on attendance.

Only just started comping, and this is my first win, doesn't feel like a win though lol
If I got one eye done, I'd never be able to afford to get the other done so it seems a bit pointless to get one done without the other

Terms seem very reasonable. Who can blame them for asking for £60 deposit to avoid people not turning up. It is very clear that this is fully refundable.
What concerns me is that some people on here appear to think it more important to 'check out the freebie' than it is to check out the procedure itself! This is a form of surgery for crying out loud. Comments along the lines of "I'll get one done but can't afford the other" are ridiculous. What are you going to do - wear a monocle?
I've looked into this and the best advice I've been given is get one done, ensure procedure is successful and then get the other done. If it costs a bit more to do it that way, SO WHAT? Sight is irreplaceable. Zero compromise to my mind.0 -
OP, I have received the same email today.
I recall entering their draw for free treatment, but like you I am a bit wary, although the price makes the deal very enticing.
There is an Optimax surgery some 4 miles from my home. Think I'll wait until after the weekend before I make the final decision to contact them.
I haven't heard any bad reports about Optimax, but sometimes things just seem to good to be true.0 -

When you phoned were they helpful? Did you get any interesting info you can pass on as I haven't phoned them yet. All the best!0 -
I won this prize last year via myoffers and can assure the doubting thomases (of which I was one) that it is perfectly legit.
I had my left eye done using epi-lasek treatmentas the prize and there was no pressure to have both eyes done apart from telling me the costs. I decided to just have the left eye done and get the right eye done later if it went well. I paid about £15 at specsavers to replace the lenses in my glasses with plain glass. I did go well apart from one nights bad sleep due to dry eyes.
After about a month I decided that it had gone well and would have the second eye done. i looked at the costs and found Optimax sold the operation on ebay for £200 less (£400 an eye on Ebay). the only difference was that you had to have the op with Optimax offering a selection of dates rather than choosing one your self. However there was no problem with dates for me and I am now glasses free.
I found Optimax very profeesional and the the actual op's in Newcastle were done by a senior eye surgeon from the Royal victoria Infirmary.
The aftercare costs were all included in the prize as wellWhen cycling, I pay the same road tax as any other zero carbon emission vehicle.0 -
I'll look out for your reply. I've just had a competition win transferred to me - obviously they hope you get both eyes done but as it was something I was thinking of anyway, why not? I'll go for the free consultation and do A LOT of reading up on th eproceedures and company before I make up my mind though....0
