E-bay refunding buyer but I've not received the item back!

• I know, it just means the debt collectors will be from e-bay not from Paypal (albeit they are the same company).

I'm trying to push them but on the phone they just pass me from one person to another with no real answer and say to put stuff in writing, which I have done, various times!

yes but being eBay its different
PP have set buyer/seller requirements
i dont know what eBays are or if they even exist
eBay cant just pick and choose that it refunds and you then owe them money
like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d4jQxREBnU (you need to watch to the end for the relevance)

they need to rationalise the reason.get on the phone to eBay
• Will keep on trying, thanks for the help

I'm thinking you don't sell much on ebay perhaps?

Your chances of getting anywhere with ebay I'd say are slim. Buyer opened dispute, buyer sent back working, buyer got refund. The issue you have is that YOU decided to then send it back to the buyer, which was not what ebay asked you to do, so they will have no incentive to help you.

Also, unless you want the debt passed on to a debt collector, I'd put £170 back in the account!

You need to pursue the BUYER to get the computer back. Get them to return it to you, and pay for the return.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

ach i skimmed the first post :o
unfortunately OP
the buyer has proof they returned the PC to you
at that point, you should have held onto the goods
• I've sold a fair bit on e-bay over the years, I've just never been messed about by a buyer like this.

I then decided to send it back to the buyer ON E-BAY'S RECOMMENDATION as I stated previously.

Yes, in hindsight I realise that agreeing to check the pc works and then sending it back to the buyer was a mistake, but how was I to know that a) The buyer was going to mess me about by saying it didn't work when it did and b) e-bay were going to go against their initial recommendation and refund the buyer with no communication?

If they want to pass it onto a debt collector then so be it, just the usual bully-boy tactics companies use when they don't want to resolve a situation themselves

did eBay recommend this in writing or by phone
your best bet(if no joy with eBay) would be small claims against the buyer
• It was recommended by them in a webchat and they sent me through the transcript afterwards.

I can see this getting messy, unnecessarily so.
• funny enough similar has just happened to me and ebay have issued refund to buyer have been in tears over the phone for the past 3 days
I sold a freelander synergy chip on ebay in October & almost 2 weeks after purchase buyer stated item was not as descibed and raised a dispute where he was asked to return item via RM tracking. He posted item to wrong address added no name to packaging lucky enough it is a small street & i reckonised signature from the online royal mail tracking as one of my neighbours on receiving package the item enclosed was a £2 draper 4 way service utility key and not the £144 synergy chip.
Total fraud on the buyers part on explaining to ebay closed case and gave full refund to buyer totally wrong.
Have wrote to watchdog about this as totally disgusted
oh the ebayer user name is gillilie so sellers beware

Sounds about right... Whenever i get money into my Paypal, i take it out straight away, and should i ever get scammed, i would just let 'Collectors' chase me for a debt which i dont owe. Civil matter it becomes so i'd say p!ss off and wait for them to waste money on a court case (which would'nt happen, but if it did....), you would have all the info you need to say you took the steps as prescribed, etc etc...... Ruling would then be in your favour and open to counter claim against ebay/Paypal..... (and yes, i have done the above, just wasnt in my name :D )

If not to far, i'd drive to the blokes house and spray '!!!!', etc etc over his front door and so on :D:D Wear a mask mind!
And just remember, the law states your allowed to be scammed, but not allowed to retaliate! ? !!
