Do you not already receive it? Have you been out of work, or are you just changing jobs? Those who earn up to c. £60,000 can claim CTC, though that figure is lowering next year.

Sorry for this being my first post..

When I spoke to Child tax on the phone about my bf moving in (im already on benefits) he earnt £30k last year and I would of only been eligible for £10 a week because he was earning to much..so could be the same for yourself and family.
    Wins....

£10 would be about right for your household income.

  • I've taken a drop in pay and with husband's redundancy our total household income will be 37500 per annum gross so I guess we would now qualify for Child tax, but based on last year's income we would not. I guess that's why I'm struggling to get my head round what we are eligible for.

If your income was too high for CTC last year, you need to call them and ask that a current year assessment can be made.

I assume you are thinking of Child Tax Credits, which is a separate benefit.

    yes, i am.
3 stone down, 3 more to go
  • Will do - thanks
  • He would get contributions based JSA, though for up to 6 months which is not means tested and is £65.45 per week. He will need to be actively seeking work though and will have to attend regularly to sign on.
  • !!!! me, My husband and I earn under £30k between us and seem to do fine.

No benefits, just full time work and we manage to pay our rent on time, and all our bills, and feed ourselves, have 2 dogs, some chickens and ducks as pets, renting a 3 bedroom house.

Wait - there's the answer - we don't have any kids.
Seriously, you're on over £30k on your own and think you are going to struggle? Send him to work at pizza hut to earn some pocket money.

    Greedy.
