Travel to the U.S help

Hello, I've just booked flight and accom for next october to disney world.

8 Years ago I was arrested for deception, selling goods on ebay I didn't have and given a police caution.

What do I answer this question on the ESTA site- Have you ever been arrested or convicted for an offense or crime involving moral turpitude?

Do I need a visa?

I could be wrong, but I think that deception is likely a crime involving moral turpitude - someone more knowledgeable than me will no doubt come along soon. How old were you 8 years ago?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    I was 18

So to get the visa, I have to call a £1.20 a min line and to go to London from preston.

I might just risk it and answer no to Have you ever been arrested or convicted for an offense or crime involving moral turpitude?

Getting the visa will cost more than the holiday.

I would say that deception could be considered as moral terpitude. Ignoring the question and chancing it is a very bad idea.

If they catch you, you will be deported and will not be eligible to enter the US again. You have plenty of time to apply for a visa.

Deception is 100% moral turpitude. Fraud is another word for it.

Yep getting the visa is expensive. Being deported and possibly having to pay the air fare home is even more expensive

You wouldn't be banned for life though. From the visa waiver scheme, yes, but you'd have a chance of getting a visa again after 10 or 15 years.

Whether they would know if you chanced it - no idea. A few years ago I'd have been confident that they wouldn't, but data sharing is on the increase

    Yes

Yes, and possibly a Waiver of Ground of Inadmissibilty. I;ve known worse and waivers been granted 6 or 7 years after. The fact it was only a caution (and the way the US views cautions) is in your favour.

Yet to know of an instance where the airlines have tried to recover this cost from the passenger.

any evidence for that statement, just because someone is inadmissable doesn't mean the whole party is.

I saw it posted on another thread. Because you are all travelling together they assume you know the person travelling with you is not eligible to enter.

Person called FH Brit wrote that. He also stated that
It is true however, if you are all on the same booking and/or from the same family and/or staying at the same accomodation.
you would be refused entry. So if some person on your flight was booked into the same hotel as you, and they were refused entry, so would you be :rotfl:

If you check you'll see most of the information he posted was wrong.
