Pooh, my great-uncle's records must have been blown up too. I can only see his medal index and it is pretty illegible at that! Shame as I'd love to know more about him. I have a photo of him as a schoolboy and he looks like Just William! At least I know he went out to Egypt to fight. His death is recorded on the memorial in Highgate Cemetery but I'm sure I remember family lore saying he came back home and died of his injuries. Looks like I shall never find out the truth

If he came back home and died, have you looked (assuming England) for his death index entry on www.freebmd.org or checked if www.cwgc.org sheds any more light on where he died?
