Dom perignon, is it worth it at £75.00
Comments
-
Hello. I noticed the other day on tesco grocery website'Domaine Perignon'- although the picture next to it is of normal 'Dom Perignon'
at £99.00 . It didnt say whether boxed or unboxed.
Cos they have the 25% off at the moment, this means, if i order one bottle with 5 other cheapo bottles of wine, i will get it for 75 quid.
The strange thing is , they dont sell it in the tesco store i live near, so i dont quite know where they would get it from when they deliver.
anyway, the point is, at 75 quid, is this worth it? I ask , because i wanted to buy it as a special present for someone, cos they say its fantastic, but it is really all a status thing?
Just wondered if anyone knows?
Thanks
Before you spend the money, check to see if you can use Tesco club card vouchers, I haven't used them myself for buying wine but I have a friend who does and they save a great deal.
Personally I wouldn't bother purchasing a bottle of anything for that price for myself. However, if the person who swears by it is close to you and it is one of their favourites then why not, if you have that money to spend and you are close to the person, it makes sense. Christmas is about giving so if it would make you happy to buy them something they would like, go ahead.
I have spent 900 pound in 2 weeks of buying Christmas presents, and I have only brought for my mum and boyfriend.I love it.

I work in the wine trade and Dom Perignon at £75 is certainly great value. At its usual retail price of around £100 to £110 I wouldnt say its worth it. Id sooner purchase Krug NV at that price. But £75 is a bargain and would make a great gift. Also, Dom Perignon has graced the table of JFK, Charles De Gaulle and the British Royal Family. Id say Louis Roederer Cristal is something of a status symbol and somewhat overrated.0

ok, it's not Dom Perignon but Morrison's do have selected bottles of champagne half price. They have Lanson Brut and Lanson Rose as well as Tattinger and Piper Hiedsieck if anyone is looking to stock up for XmasSealed Pot Challenge Member 1273VSP 2011 Member 92 - 723.070

Morrisons have some great offers on the Champagne. I imagine they will have more offers over Christmas. Last year I picked up some Bollinger NV for £18 a bottle.0

You're probably one of the people who would choose fizzed up Blue Nun in a blind taste test :rotfl:
No drink is worth £75 a bottle, especially when you can get much cheaper brands that are just as good, if not better. All you are doing is buying into a poncy name, nothing else.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
Dom P at £75.00 is a very good deal, I am just about to order some
having seen the posts.
And in my opinion it IS a good champagne and YES I can tell the difference although I do drink cheaper ones too.
Before you knock it, you should try it!!!:beer:0 -

Well seeing as it just ends up being pi**ed down the toilet or vomited back up I don't really see the attraction at those prices myself.0 -
Only just spotted this thread, but ill add my 2p worth
Im a champagne fan, and have spend a few months going round the region in france etc so have tried a lot - and its certainly an expensive habbit to get into.
However i would say that Dom P at that price is NOT worth it, i paid £68 for the same, and i even thought that was too much. yes its better than their entry level and better than Moet (thats personal taste btw, and i dont rate Moet in any way shape or form) as previously recommended at that price Krug is a better buy.
Having said all of that, from some of the small vineyards around the region ive had Champagnes that would be up there with the best of them, if there were availible in the UK, and they just are not as the french get them all. Ive had 17euro bottles that would knock the socks off Dom P any day of the week.0 -

Champagne would be wasted on you! May I suggest cheap cider or even meths with lemon:Dade!1 -
