Sorry but can anyone tell me if this site is genuine?
http://www.ipodnano-sales.info/
They seem to be selling the ipod nano quiet cheap, I know its not the latest version but still. It seems to look like the apply website but I couldn't get to it via the apple site, just on a google link.
thanks

Stay clear Chinese site

Having lost my iPod Nano at home my daughter kindly researched a replacement and found this site www.ipodnanosales.info selling them at £89.99 following a recommendation from a specialist forum. The payment method was visamasterpay.com which is a Chinese based company who I have read elsewhere are commonly connected with fraudulent sites. The e-commerce package used was Zen, a free tool, and they had a Mcafee logo on their site saying tested daily with 18th July as the last test date so clearly they had just copied the gif from another site. As soon as I authorised the payment I realised it was a scam site as the confirmation email from visamasterpay was in Chinese and having spoken to my credit card company they said the chances were even if the goods were sent they would get impounded by HMRC as fake. Fortunately my credit card covers me for internet fraud but had it been a debit card I wouldn't be enjoying this protection. There is no audit trail for this company although they set themselves up using a UK ISP the whois information doesn't reveal who they really are. So the moral of the story is if you see an iPod Nano advertised for around £90 the chances are its a fake and besides the 6th gen version is so much better it isn't worth going backwards for. Fre P&P isn't much help when they don't dispatch the goods! Avoid this type of deal like the plague and go to the nice people at Amazon and get a 6th gen nano. I did.0 -

If the posts above don't put you off, here's some more info:
No 'Contact Us' details, no way of getting support when you don't get what you've ordered.
McAfee and Verisign logos are just pictures, you should be able to click on these to verify the authenticity of the site; you can't.
Once you get through to their secure payments page, it's another Chinese website.
Stay well clear.Dave. :wave:0 -
Keep clear. Ordered the ipod and 2 weeks later what looks like a 4th generation (not 5th as ordered) turned up! They had gone to the trouble of putting in a camera though! It rattled and the wording on it is grainy, it is simply a USB, does not connect to itunes and does not work at all. Have emailed the company but got no response (shocking)....they have taken the money - through some bogus company name (and the visamasterpay connected to it also seems to be a fake company) and thats it...do not be fooled by this Chinese company.
My advice, stay well away!!!

ah ok thanks guys!
I thought it looked dodgy but didn't know if apple might get rid of their old ipod verison on outlet sites.
Thanks, will avoid!0 -
Valid comments have been made here.
Has anyone got any views/opinions on deal-cool.com based in Hong Kong. Their website is genuine but they seem to sell some fakes given some of the reviews.
The 5th generation ipod nano is very reasonably priced. Is the price too good to be true?0 -
Seen this website (ipodnanosales.info) and got pulled in by the good prices of nanos on sale so i then dived in and purchased one for my young sisters christmas, The money was withdrawn the next day 28/10/1010 and i have still recieved nothing, have now noticed website has no contact info and having now read this i am extremely gutted
Has anyone got any advise to what i should do next? any help would be appreciated thank you

1st thing is to cancel the card you used
If you used a credit card & it was over £100 you can try and use section 75, if you used a visa debit you could try and do a visa chargeback.0 -
We were sucked in by it as well:mad: paid for item on 19/11/10 and payment taken for £82.07 not £79.00 which rang alarm bells, I did some research (which I should have done before purchasing ) and found this thread. Rang LTSB fraud, who are sending a claim form for the difference between the amount on invoice and the amount taken, I now have to wait until 6/12/10 (15 days after they took payment) if goods not received then can claim for fraud:mad:
So so angry with myself.
btw mentioned cancelling card but Lloyds said not to until 6/12/10 so will have to watch account like a hawkNuts oh Hazelnuts:rotfl:0
