awww bless him...i think the liquitabs is quite sweet, 1) cos some thought had gone into it, you had said you couldnt afford them and he thought they were ace lol
    2) at least he is doing his own washing and well enough to realise what is and isnt a good detergent lol

that being said i wouldnt be too happy if i was his wife and he gave them to me...might think hes trying to say something...but in his defense ...hes doing his own washing now so he probably still will be doing it :)

It is a pity the doing his own washing doesn't extend to when he is at home for the holidays. In holiday time it reverts to Mums job again.:rotfl: Still I have the liquitabs.

My brother and his wife a couple of years ago gave us a present 2 weeks before xmas which we duly put under the xmas tree awaiting the big day.

Over the course of the next two weeks leading up to xmas, the present started to smell, overwhelming so, by the time we opened it on xmas morning we were gagging, it was a hamper of cheeses that had gone off as they so obviously should have been in the fridge!!!! so we had to chuck the lot

This remind me of a few years ago where the 2 sets of neighbours that we exchange presents with both gave us cheese without telling us to fridge it. One gave it to us a few days before so that was binned as soon as we opened it & the other gave it to us the night before. I thought that one could be OK until I put a knife in the pack to open it & it "exploded"! Spoke to the neighbour about it & she said she had not thought & had stored it in their spare room for about 2 weeks after wrapping it!
  • What a funny thread. When we were dating many moons ago my hubby bought me a crook lock and some windscreen wiper blades for Valentines Day - sooooooo romantic.

  • My boys have just redeemed themselves, the eldest for getting me liquitabs and the youngest for getting me nothing. They have just been shopping and come back with two sets of spa lights and a lavender warmer. I love lavender and will use the lights when I soak in the bath so am quite pleased. In true mse fashion they got them half price in the sale.

Good job they didn't listen to the male assistant in the shop that they asked for help from. He suggested a tin opener.

my MIL always bought yeardley lavendar stuff for her MIL, and told me it was her fave, I went shoppingone day and the shop only sold Yardley Rose, so I got that instead, my gran in law opened it and went "at last, its the right one!" My MIL had been buying the lavendar one for over 20 years! Oops!

ha, ha. We were in Florida for my 39th birthday and my son then aged 5 was upset that he'd not been able to get me anything. We'd been given a children's gift pack on the way over which had in it, a small beach ball for use in the pool.

On my birthday my sonm presented me with this beach ball blown up and liquid in it, which he informed me was lemonade and it was a novelty drink for me. Then he added he hadn't been able to pour the lemonade out of the bottle into the small hole of the ball, so he'd had to put the lemonade in his mouth and spit it out into the valve to make it go in.

    :rotfl:

    I left it in Florida.;)

Opening my gift from MIL I got all excited at the flash of a turquiose box - esp as she had asked me if I like tiffany jewelery. Excitement soon turned to disappointment on close inspection - they were fake jobbies prob off of ebay - not even nice designs and stating that they are silver but are plastic sprayed silver!! I just hope she didnt pay alot for them! In her defence she normally buys nice 'safe' presents like perfume sets - hopefully she'll stick to that next year!
My absolute worst has to be a 'close' friend who bought me slippers from our local supermarket. I actually felt quite hurt as I always make the effort to buy her and her family something lovely - but then, I've come to expect it from her as my birthday present was 4 days late and again, something thoughtless from our local supermarket. Am very annoyed about it - esp as i'm the first one she comes to for favours adn I'm constantly subbing her when we go out. My new years resolution for 2010 is not to pander to her anymore - if she cant show appreciation with abit of thought then she can go whistle - after the favour that i am doing her at the minute that she asked before xmas

I think thats quite a snobby response, she may have bought the slippers from the supermarket as they fitted within her budget or that she buys them there for herself and she wouldnt have thought to go elsewhere.
