Did I say it's hideous?
No...I think you may have glossed over that part....:rotfl:

I think I can look forward to Christmas this year, We've told people not to bother with us and we won't bother with them, sick of getting carp!
Me and h2b are making hampers for each other as it's only a few months before we get married.
So far I've got him, Derek dvd, Family guy series (whatever the pre order one) 2 tickets to see John Bishop. Not sure what else I can put in so any ideas welcome.

a colleague once handed over a present telling me that when she saw this item, she thought of me.

I posted this on a similar thread a while back. My MIL (whom I no longer have any contact with thank god) was the queen of giving "worst ever" presents. The ones which stuck in my mind were:
Size 20-22 Camisole Top and Knickers - I was a size 10 at the time, her response was that "it was obvious that my weight would rocket at some point" and they would fit soon enough. I've never been bigger than a 14.
A pressed glass jar with chocolates inside - the best before date was 3 years earlier.
A pair of damart slipper/boot things in size 8 - I'm a 5.
A kitchen clock in the shape of a frying pan.
A calendar dishtowel from the year before
A pair of child's legwarmers and matching tights????
and the cream of them all - 100 cigarettes. I have never smoked in my life -I immediately handed them back - she seemed quite happy, possibly as she puffed like a chimney most of the time. That was obviously her plan.
I took comfort from the fact that her other daughter in law suffered in similar ways - I can still remember watching her opening up her gift one year - a babydoll nightdress and thong which was a size 8. My SIL is a shapely size 16 most of the time but at that particular time was about 8 months pregnant and about 4 stone heavier than usual. MIL's response to her bursting into tears was to say "it was an incentive for her to get rid of some of that fat as it couldn't possibly all be baby".
I don't miss presents from the old witch!0 -
I was talking about this thread in work earlier as I typed my response. One of my colleagues had us all in fits of laughter as she recounted the Christmas when her grandmother bought her a pair of shoes. When she remarked they were both left feet granny proudly said that's why she had gotten then at a reduced price. To make matters worse they were a size 7 - she takes a 4:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

I think I must have married someone related to her too. I got an individual square box of smarties - one of those tiny ones. she watched me open it and said 'its the thought that counts'. she had bought my husband (her son obviously) £300 of designer clothes, a crate of beer and 200 cigarettes, amongst other things. As I don't smoke or drink beer, she made sure I got nowt that year. I had countless rubbish from her, which were meant to be insults.
my birthday is 4 days after Christmas too. she always went abroad and I never got anything.
I have been divorced years now. and have remarried. but it still grinds my gears.:mad:0
