    This is a funny thread.

Many years ago I got the worst present.

I was only about 10 years old. My parents got me this brown leather jacket with a fur trim.

Christmas day came and they were hiding behind the door to hear us kids opening our presents from Santa. My brother asked me what did I get and I said

"all I got was this grotty jacket"

I found out years later my parents heard me - felt so bad but it was rather grotty.

    Kind wishes

Awesome thread :D. I think the most random presents I've ever gotten have to be a pair of mens underwear in a tin with pictures of cartoon babies on them...I was about 11 at the time and I'm female...I think my father ended up with them, poor sod. lol. Came from friends of the family who lives in Germany.

More recently, I asked my dad for some antiques, and a collar off a draft horse harness that I could get a mirror cut to fit inside and hang on my wall...woke one christmas to find a set of draft horse harness (all the trace) minus the collar...still sitting in my room as I've got no clue what to do with it.

Then last christmas I was given a rather large (about 2 feet in diameter) Sudanese tribal shield...again, not sure what to do with it. A few weeks after christmas my father and I were standing in a queue at a train station and he turns to me and goes: "you know that shield I got you"...me: "yes, Dad"...him: "well it's hippopotamus". Wasn't sure what to say. lol.

I had a box of cheap tissues wrapped up one year from my MIL

Just after my 1st child was born - for the christmas 3 months after my 1st child was born I was told I would get money for christmas (by the same MIL) but I should wait until the january sales to buy some clothes because I might have lost some weight by then!

I love this thread - perfect for cheering me up before work again tomorrow.:rotfl:

I have been reading this and laughing out loud for some time - OH came in to find out what was so funny and so I quoted some of the posts I was reading, only for him to respond with "you'll want to bookmark that thread as you'll probably be adding your own comments just after xmas this year" !!

For his sake alone, I hope he is joking !
I was going to take over the world but got distracted by something sparkly.......

DH bought me a chopping board.

    Enough said.

For my 21st birthday, more years ago than I care to admit to, my future mil gave me an iron.

Don't know to this day how I stopped myself from hitting her with it.
Oh dear, here we go again.

think my mum;s mum to her was the worst - a box of chocolates (which she cannot eat) with a note saying that perhaps David (my dad) could eat them for her!
Having said that think I have been rubbish this year for presents as have sent practical ones rather than the usual obscure adn quirky ones, and for that I apologise and promise to improve.

My brother sent my mum an email I think it was the 22nd asking what I'd like for Christmas - I don't really want/need anything (aside from an iphone but that's when I win the lottery ;) ) so I said nothing - I'm fine so she emails him that back and he turns up on Christmas Eve.

He turns up with a large box. I really don't mean to sound ungrateful - it is a lovely present...

I have a heart condition, I don't drink alcohol that much - and when I do, I can't have and don't like wine, I tend to stick to lager as it's the only thing that doesn't give me heartburn. The present? It's an all singing all dancing wine cooler - you program in what sort of wine it is and it chills it to the right temperature apparently.

If there's one thing that's utterly useless for me, that's pretty much it. I feel awful cos he's pretty much wasted his money.
