Worst/Strangest Christmas Present!

This is the best. Thread. Ever.
A few years back a friend of mine bought me some chocolates (fine and dandy) and what seemed to be two bright green decorative bathroom tiles. I never quite worked up the courage to ask "Whither the bathroom tiles, mate?" as I was a bit scared that they were a new craze for decorative wall hangings or something that had completely passed me by. Even now I'm a bit worried that someone here will say "For goodness sake Arthur, they're called Spudelfrogs and are meant to be placed on your cooker."0 -
He He, My OH's Mum usually buys me very acceptable pressies but she hated his ex-wife. She used to go shopping with her daughter to the local market and they would look for the cheapest, tackiest jumper or cardigan that they could find for her.
Only problem is that last Christmas I got a cardigan from her (it was an M&S one though) Is this the beginning of the end?0 -
This thread has made me laugh on a really stressed day so thanks to everyone.
Best I can do is a mint green thermal vest from my Grandma, I was 18 and just off to university - she thought it was colder in the midlands! I was a goth at the time.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
My sister sends me some weird stuff. One year I had a brown camisole size 14 (I am a 10) a pair of the most gaudy bedroom slippers(think arabian nights) both M&S, so I took them back hoping to swop them for something more to my liking I was told that the camisole was 4 years old they couldnt take it back and the slippers were so old they werent even on the stock list, she sent me 6 pairs of bridget jones white knickers size 16 and a pair of flennelette pjs size 16! I always open here presents first because I know it will be nothing to get excited about. You have to laugh dont you!You live..You learn.:)0

I've been through this thread and :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: for the best part of the last hour - still haven't read everything yet, but wanted to add my two pennies worth.
My worse present was from my ex sil to be, a magnolia bath set - it was vile considering I was about 23 years old, and I thought it was fit for a more mature lady! I then gave it back to my ex mil to be years later after I split from the ex - out of spite I think:rolleyes: , however, I was down the local shops and saw the same bath set in the charity shop! I knew it was the same one cos it had a weird mark on it :rotfl:

This thread is so funny, brings back memories
When I was about 13 or 14 my Gran gave me black camisole, knickers, suspender belt and stockings...!! I don't know what her idea was there; I'm sure she must have got my presents and my older cousins muddled up that year...... When I was about 15 (I think) a great aunt gave me a cheese board and cheese knife, my mum thought it was hilarious, why on earth did I need that..!! I never left home until I was 24.......
One year when I was about 11 I asked my parents for the Now album, what did I get, a tape of hits from the 50's and 60's, not really the sort of thing to give out in the 80's to a 11 year old.....
OH made me laugh, one year for Xmas when he was younger one of his relatives gave him a Bruce Springsteen album, he hated him......
The first year we were in our house (Xmas 1998) my mum and dad bought us a toilet brush holder in the shape of a seahorse, they thought it would go with our bathroom....!! The following year they gave me a giant cuddly cat...!!
Relatives, eh....!!Light bulb moment 18/03/06 Total Debt at light bulb moment approx £40k

I've just thought of one more thing.....
When I was about 7 I think, my late Gran and Gramp bought me and my younger sister a Sindy Doll each, which we thought was great, however, they bought us the loo that goes in the Sindy house to go with it, very bizarre, we never did have the house though......Light bulb moment 18/03/06 Total Debt at light bulb moment approx £40k

Hubby and me were really skint so we "agreed" to put all our money towards the kiddies pressies and forgo a gift from each other. Of course I knew this was an agreement to be broken with shy smiles of love on Xmas Day. So the morning dawned and as we lay in bed I presented him with his pressies - can't remember what they were but I know for sure I had put weeks of effort into finding inexpensive but lovely, thoughtful gifts.
And he gave me nothing. As agreed.

Well for this year I have just managed to get. off ebay, a full set of golf clubs for my little brothers xmas present. They only cost £7.92. He doesn't play golf and you might have guessed he isn't left handed.
Suppose it is better than giving him back the jumper (never worn) he gave me last year and the reindeer tie (never worn). Then again might just add to his xmas stocking. You cant take the trousers off an elephant!0 -
The first year my now OH and I spent together I made a big thing about hanging stockings up over the fireplace several days before christmas. On Christmas Eve I snook downstairs after he was asleep to fill his. On Christmas morning he went down to make the tea as I lay upstairs wondering what gifts would await me. However when I went downstairs there was my empty stocking sat next to his that was full of presents. I was gutted. He just told me I had been very bad that year!0
