I onced recieved a large tin of Cadburys Roses from an old aunt..great you might think? .... problem was the tin was half empty and all the "good sweets" like the strawberry creams had been removed! :rotfl:"Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering"0

My sister-in-law [who I don't like ] bought me a cocktail book the year before last.
Not so bad really I guess, but at the time I was claiming jobseekers and didn't have the money to lash out £15 a time on a bottles of spirits.0 -

My mum once got me a pink Crimplene crew-necked jumper - the kind old ladies wear to Bingo. I was 18 at the time. I was devastated - I thought she had wrapped up someone else's by mistake. Everyone was looking at her to see if she would say anything, but no, she actually meant it for me.
Funny how your own mother doesn't notice anything about you! I have spent my whole life with my face in a book - they used to have to prise them away from me at mealtimes. Yet, I have never received any kind of book or even a book token from my parents.:j Every day in every way, learning to money save:j0 -

This thread is brilliant, i've laughed and cringed so many times!
I once got a toiletries bag with toothbrush, toothpaste, bar of soap and shampoo in it. All bog standard supermarket brands. Do you think they were trying to tell me something?
Oh and hand knitted jumpers from my granny every year. Bless, I love her and I know she makes a lot of effort. But I just can't wear them! They're always huge and shapeless and very ugly.0 -
don't know about you, I am finding huge inspiration here for ideas for presents for those that I'm not that keen on!
keep up the good work, have really enjoyed this one:TCarolbee0
