using ccleaner on registry?

  • As regards using Ccleaner, I once for an experiment tried asking Cccleaner to analyse the registry of a brand new pc - as in like 10 minutes after first boot up. Ccleaner found several items it wanted to correct/delete whatever. Not surprisingly I declined and have not used any of its registry functions though I do use it to clean up junk files etc.

    Of course the PC you used was Hand built or bought without an Operating system which you then installed .... Just a question (rhetorical :D)

    Your using the awful AVG which is definitely not recommended by me (Entirely your call)

    You dont need so can uninstall (Advised as it slows the computer down) -
    Microsoft search enhancement pack
    Acer toolbar
    MSN/Bing toolbar
    Yahoo toolbar
    WOT toolbar (I suppose this could be useful. your call)
    Rapport (if you feel your computers fine then leave it. But it tends to slow a LOT of computers down)

    TICK and FIX these -
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Bing Bar] "C:\Program Files\MSN Toolbar\Platform\5.0.1449.0\mswinext.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Default Manager] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Search Enhancement Pack\Default Manager\DefMgr.exe" -resume

    Run ccleaner again then the reg cleaner (Backup when it asks)
    Hi EriK, Thanks for info , much appreciated,done all you said,except cannot locate acer toolbar, not in add/remove.Considering AVG, though no bother with it so far.Rapport, keeping, "banks", had this long debate about, yea or nea.no probs with it.A&L insist it,s on.The main reason for avg is it supports rapport, or visa-versa.doesn,t conflict with it as mse did.I,ll try others again though.Still got the agro with hijackthis , used virtual keyboard just now , ok only acer toolbar to locate,Thanks for everthing:beer:
